What happened to Noah Brown? Commanders WR out for weeks after suffering injury
The Washington Commanders have received a major injury blow regarding Noah Brown. The veteran wide receiver was having a solid campaign with the suddenly resurgent Commanders, but his availability for the rest of the season is in jeopardy.
Brown suffered a "significant injury" against the Tennessee Titans in Week 13. His season appears to be over, which is a tough break for a player who was set to put up a career-best campaign.
What did Dan Quinn say about Brown's injury?
Washington Post reporter Nicki Jhabvala shared coach Dan Quinn's words on the issue. Quinn offered hope about Brown's health but admitted the current situation doesn't look favorable.
“During the game, between him and the medical staff, they did a really good job to address what was a serious injury,” Quinn said. “Fortunately, he’s going to be OK. But it’s going to knock him out for a bit.”
After picking up a hip injury that forced him to exit the Titans game, Quinn said Brown is "likely" out for the rest of the season.
Washington's turnaround included Brown, who was on pace for a career year. He had caught 35 passes for 453 yards and a touchdown prior to the injury. His touchdown is particularly memorable, as it came on a Hail Mary pass to give the Commanders a last-second win over the Bears.
Who will replace Brown in Commanders' lineup?
With Brown likely done for the year, ESPN's John Keim says the Commanders will likely use a group of receivers to replace Brown instead of picking only one player to carry his load.
Dyami Brown, rookie Luke McCaffrey and veteran Olamide Zaccheaus are set to fill in for Brown. Brown likely will take on a bigger role overall in the offense, while McCaffrey and Zaccheaus will compete for reps as the third receiver.
The Commanders rank seventh in the NFC, meaning they'd get the last playoff spot if the season ended today.
