When Jason and Travis Kelce's roommate labeled them "absolute pigs" while living it up in Cincinnati
Travis Kelce and his older brother Jason consider Ohio their home. After all, both were born in the Cleveland suburbs and played their college football at Cincinnati.
Speaking of Cincinnati, at one point during their stay there, they were considered among the most uncouth students in the school. In an exclusive interview for The Athletic in January this year, Greg Davis, whose son Evan once inhabited the same room as the two future NFL stars, said:
"Those guys were absolute pigs. They had a giant outdoor garbage can sitting in the middle of the common living area, and it was stacked 2 feet out of the top of the can with pizza boxes."
Both brothers would readily agree with the sentiment on their podcast New Heights - an allusion to the high school they attended:
Jason: 'They really made us out like degenerates, but yeah.'
Travis: 'What college football player isn't? If you're not, you're doing college wrong.'
Another of Travis Kelce's college roommate recounts TE being spotted smoking marijuana by mom
Travis Kelce is widely renowned as not only one of the best tight ends in NFL history but also one of the most boisterous "party animals" off it, in a level that can be compared with Rob Gronkowski. But in an alternate world, that may have never happened.
In 2010, the Bearcats had suspended the future Kansas City Chief for the season after he was caught smoking marijuana in violation of academic and athletic policies. Shortly after he was punished, he went straight to his house and started doing a joint.
That was when the mother of Zach Collaros, another of his roomates, walked in. In that same feature, he recalled:
"She doesn’t like going to the games so she just stayed behind and cleaned the house, which is a story in and of itself. She smells something and walks downstairs in the basement, and it’s Trav — smoking a joint. She goes, 'Travis, aren’t you suspended for this?!'
"He goes: 'Hey Momma Collaros, it’s all right. When are we going to the game?' And they walked to the game together."
The entire situation would tank Travis Kelce's stock heading into the 2013 NFL Draft, where he went off the board for the Chiefs 63rd overall - the first pick of the third round.
