When Marshawn Lynch went 'Yeast Mode' on The Great American Baking Show, left judges absolutely stunned
This past December, former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch appeared on The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Edition. The host of the show, actress Ellie Kemper, introduced Lynch with a catchy catchphrase. She used his famous 'Beast Mode' nickname from the NFL and said that he was hoping to go 'Yeast Mode.'
“Hoping to turn Beast Mode into Yeast Mode”-Ellie Kemper
The former NFL running back, along with his other celebrity contestants, was tasked with making three different holiday-inspired desserts. But Lynch failed spectacularly.
His strawberry cream puffs that were supposed to resemble holiday elves left a lot to be desired. Lynch told the judges that his cream puffs were a mess because the elves got into a fight. Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith laughed at his explanation and proceeded to tell him that they were actually quite delicious.
The same couldn't be said for his meringue wreath, which the former player proceeded to make with an entire jar of vanilla bean paste. Hollywood and Leith were shocked when Lynch told them that he didn't know what a whisk was.
It was his third and final dessert, however, that impressed the judges. He made a lemon drizzle cake that his grandfather has made him since he was a child.
“My grandfather has been making this cake for my whole life. After the games when I first started playing organized football, Little League, he used to bring these cakes as, ‘hey, you did a good job.’"
Actress D'Arcy Carden was named the "Star Baker" of The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Edition. Nonetheless, the former NFL running back did give his all despite not having a lot of knowledge in the world of baking.
Marshawn Lynch racked up over $1 million in NFL fines
Marshawn Lynch became well-known for his absence when it came to speaking with the media before and after NFL games. His "I'm here so I won't get fined" became his catchphrase after he said so before Super Bowl XLIX.
"Beast Mode" has revealed that he was fined by the National Football League and it was a significant amount of money at that. While making an appearance on the I Am Athlete podcast, the former NFL running back said that he accumulated $1.2 million. He said that he had been fined prior to his statement and that is the reason why he would show up and not answer questions.
"The fines started accumulating from seasons before, and now they're the NFL running the number up. $1.2 million for just not talking to the media."
He went on to say that he would leave games early if his Seattle Seahawks were leading. His appearance at Super Bowl media day, where he didn't answer questions, but still attended, apparently saved him $500,000.
