“The horrific guy from the murder trial!” – When O.J. Simpson left a comedian awestruck on a prank show

O.J. Simpson played 11 seasons in the NFL, nine of which were with the Buffalo Bills. But that's not why people remember the former running back. He was accused of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown-Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in 1994. However, he was acquitted of all charges in October 1995.

Almost a decade after the acquittal, Simpson found himself trying to restart his career on television in 2006 with a prank show called 'Juiced.' It was an hour-long special that was later sold as a DVD in 2008. Comedian Harmon Leon worked with the former USC star on the show and explained the premise of the show and Simpson's role.

Leon said:

“Something would happen and O.J. Simpson would pop up. Like, someone would be answering an ad for a roommate wanted, I would say, ‘You won’t believe who my other roommate is,’ and O.J. would come out. You know, he was the funny guy from the Naked Gun movies and the horrific guy from the murder trials!”

Leon was most struck by the public’s reaction to him after being told they'd been juiced by the Hall of Famer. Leon added:

“I thought O.J. would pop out and [people] would scream or cry. But for the most part—and this was one of the strangest elements—average Americans were thrilled that they’d been juiced by O.J. Mothers and daughters were asking if they could get a photo.”

For the former five-time All-Pro, the show wasn't exactly the comeback he thought it would be.

How the show 'Juiced' fared for O.J. Simpson and what he's doing currently

O.J. Simpson and Juiced went on to sell just 100 DVDs, but the show can be found on YouTube. At 75 years old, Simpson has found a new home to share his comedy, Twitter. He currently has almost 890K followers on the social media platform.

The former Buffalo Bills star shares his thoughts on what's going on in the NFL with some personal opinions. Either way, Simpson seems to have "juiced" himself back into the spotlight.
