When Travis Kelce revealed his ideal partner’s traits before dating Taylor Swift
Travis Kelce, star of the Kansas City offense and one of the best tight ends in the NFL, is dating one of the most renowned celebrities in the world, Taylor Swift. The couple is often spotted together, either at Arrowhead Stadium or at Taylor Swift’s live shows.
While it’s hard to pinpoint exactly which traits of Swift the Chiefs TE was drawn to, he did reveal some qualities he seeks in a partner back in 2016.
During the reality show "Catching Kelce," where 50 women from 50 states competed for his affections, Kelce shared:
“I need confidence and that she can be in such a limelight athlete is in. And on top of that, be able to be respectful, polite and classy.”
Travis Kelce wants his partner to be humble as his mom
Well, Taylor Swift certainly fits the bill. She has more than enough experience handling the limelight, with over 250 million Instagram followers — 80 times the number Kelce has.
Despite her massive fame and stardom, Swift is also known for being respectful, polite and classy. So, it’s possible that Kelce is the one adjusting in this relationship.
Kelce mentioned something similar last year on the "Let's Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari" podcast. He said:
“You have to be grounded. You have to have some sort of balanced lifestyle. High maintenance, I'm out the door. I've never been a part of that.”
Kelce further explained that he is looking for someone with traits similar to his mother, Donna Kelce, whom he describes as an "absolute angel."
“You got to have some sort of sweetness to you,” he said. “If you're arrogant or you think you're snooty or just higher above people, that's the biggest turn-off for me.”
Taylor Swift breaks a rule when Travis Kelce is around
During the same podcast, Kelce also revealed his frustration when Swift refused to meet him during her "Eras Tour" last year. He understood that Swift doesn't meet people before or after her shows to protect her voice. But Kelce initially took it personally—despite valuing the grounded, balanced lifestyle he seeks in a partner.
Things have since changed, and Kelce’s opinion of Swift’s performance routine has evolved. In an interview with Beabadoobee for her "Pursuit of Happiness" series, the TE revealed that Swift prefers to stay sober during her live shows.
“She’s a beast, dude. Three-hour-long shows every night, choreography, all this crazy s**t. No sipping on alcohol!”
However, Swift breaks that rule when her beau Kelce is around.
