Who is the best 2nd pick for fantasy football? Top 7 stars ranked
Managers lucky enough to get the second overall pick in 2024 fantasy football drafts will have an elite list of superstars to choose from. All but one player will be available to them, and most of the time, Christian McCaffrey will be the only option that is selected before them. Assuming McCaffrey goes first overall as his ADP suggests, here are the best options for the second pick of the draft.
Best fantasy football draft picks at 2nd overall
#7 - Justin Jefferson
Justin Jefferson has proven to have the upside to finish as the best overall wide receiver in fantasy football and has done so already with the Minnesota Vikings. His injuries last year dropped his overall ranking a bit and his 2024 outlook is clouded by a difficult quarterback situation. He will have to catch passes from Sam Darnold this season, but his elite production still make him a solid choice.
#6 - Amon-Ra St. Brown
Amon-Ra St. Brown has some of the most reliable volume of any fantasy football wide receiver. He has exceeded 145 targets and 100 receptions in each of his past two seasons as the featured player in the Detroit Lions' passing game. In a projected similar role this year, he has one of the safest floors of any player.
#5 - Ja'Marr Chase
Ja'Marr Chase has one of the highest ceilings of any player during the 2024 fantasy football season. He has exceeded 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons and totaled 29 touchdowns along the way with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was as productive as ever last season, despite not having Joe Burrow for most of the year, so with a healthy quarterback, he clearly has WR1 upside.
#4 - Tyreek Hill
Tyreek Hill has been one of the most consistently dominant wide receivers, finishing among the top eight players in his position in six of the past seven fantasy seasons. He also set career-highs in targets, receptions and yards in each of his two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, making him one of the best overall players to pick.
#3 - Breece Hall
Breece Hall has proven to be able to overcome playing in one of the worst offenses in the entire NFL. He recorded 1,585 scrimmage yards last year with the New York Jets and could be in line to take a massive step forward in 2024. If Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy, he should create significantly more scoring opportunities for Hall.
#2 - Bijan Robinson
Bijan Robinson was relatively disappointing during his rookie season with the Atlanta Falcons last year, but mostly because his workload was being limited at times. With a new coaching scheme this year, Robinson is expected to be fully unleashed. He still finished as the RB9 last season, so he clearly has the upside to potentially be the highest-scoring overall player this year.
#1 - CeeDee Lamb
CeeDee Lamb has set career-highs in many categories in every one of his seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, including targets, receptions, yards and touchdowns. This has resulted in overall WR1 finish in fantasy football last season. Now that he received his contract extension, he appears locked in to a similar role this season, making him the best player to target with the second overall pick.
