Who will replace Robert Saleh? 5 names who have been linked with New York Jets job feat. Aaron Glenn, Mike Locksley, and more

The New York Jets parted ways with Robert Saleh on Oct. 8. The defensive-minded head coach compiled a 20-36 record with the Jets but failed to guide them to a postseason berth.

The Jets promptly replaced him with an interim head coach, Jeff Ulbrich, but even that wasn't good enough to give the Jets a postseason push. Hence, the franchise is looking for a new head coach ahead of the offseason.

Let's examine a handful of names reportedly high on the AFC side's shortlist.

Who will replace Robert Saleh?

Here's a look at five names that could become the Jets' head coach for the 2025 NFL season. Kindly note that all odds are courtesy of BetOnline as of Tuesday.

5. Aaron Glenn - +150

Aaron Glenn is one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL. He has been the brains behind numerous shutdown defensive performances for the Detroit Lions in the 2024 regular season. The Lions are set to start their playoff journey in the divisional round.

Let's see how far the franchise goes and how it contains postseason-caliber teams. The better it performs on defense, the less likely Glenn will be on the coaching staff in 2025.

4. Arthur Smith - 28/1

Arthur Smith is the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive coordinator, and his versatility in play-calling was on full display this season. Smith last served as the Atlanta Falcons head coach in 2023.

Smith is an outside chance to coach the Jets due to his mixed record as a head coach. However, it will be interesting to see how he uses the offensive weapons at the Jets' disposal.

3. Matt Nagy - 28/1

Matt Nagy is the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. In recent seasons, Nagy has helped the Chiefs win back-to-back Super Bowls.

He is a one-time AP NFL Coach of the Year Award winner and one of the best offensive-minded head coaches in professional football.

2. Vance Joseph - 33/1

Vance Joseph is a former professional football player and the current defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos. Since 2005, Joseph has held various roles in the NFL and has been part of numerous lockdown defensive units.

He is popular, thanks to his work with the Denver Broncos in 2024. Joseph is the odds-on favorite if the Jets go for a defensive-minded head coach currently in the NFL.

1. Mike Locksley - 33/1

Mike Locksley has been the Maryland Terrapins' head coach since 2019. He has been efficient in the role and has led the program to three Bowl Game wins.

Locksley has never coached in the NFL, but the New York Jets are keen on having him in the dugout as the numero uno for the 2025 NFL season.
