Why was Antonio Brown cut by Raiders? Maxx Crosby goes on NSFW rant revealing inside details
Antonio Brown had a roller-coaster NFL career and part of his time was spent with the Oakland Raiders.
Brown was traded to the Raiders from the Steelers in the 2019 offseason in exchange for a third- and fifth-round pick.
While he was traded to the team, he never played a game for them as he was released before the season began due to his antics.
He was released from the team upon his request on Sept. 7, 2019.
All-Pro Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby highlighted how Brown was good in the locker room, and then the team realized how much of a distraction he was with his antics.
Crosby said via Yervakin clips on YouTube:
“We signed AB, Richie, Vontaze Burfict they were all on our team. AB as a person like us, if he sat here with us right now, you genuinely like it just us in the room. No cameras, nothing, you would love AB, but the second he left the building bro you didn't know what the f–k is about to happen.
"He came in, he burned his feet off and then he had the helmet shit. So he was never practicing. He never was around offseason. We're like, 'What the f–k is going on?' He would show up here and there but like he came up bro, all the captains went up there. He walked up on the stage he apologized. So we're like, 'Okay, he's about to play like fuck yeah, AB’s on board now.'"
Crosby added that after some false hopes, the team was relieved when Brown was cut.
Crosby added:
"So everyone's excited about that night he posted the shit with Gruden, same day. He's like, 'I'm done with the games, man.' I apologize, I was like, oh, okay, but like we get it like everything's same 100% genuine, boom, boom, boom, literally that night he puts on Instagram, and then by the next morning he was cut. It was like a breath of fresh air but it was something every single day and he was supposed to be our franchise guy.”
Antonio Brown's antics with the Raiders
On Sept. 7, 2019, Brown was released by the Raiders upon his request.
Brown responded to the news of his release in a viral video online of him celebrating the news.
He was released due to his behavior with the team. He posted a picture of his heavily blistered feet on Instagram due to frostbite from cryotherapy. He then complained about wanting to use the helmet that he used in Pittsburgh and threatened to retire if he couldn't wear it.
He then called general manager Mike Mayock a cracker after the two got into a dispute.
Upon his release, the Raiders fined Brown $215,000 for his behavior toward Mayock.
