3 reasons that prove the Green Bay Packers' 2022 NFL season is all but done

The Green Bay Packers have had a terrible start to their 2022 NFL season. The team is currently sitting at 3-6 after nine weeks.

They’re also in terrible form. They've lost the last five games in a row to the Giants, Jets, Commanders, Bills and Lions.

This is quite the opposite of their 2021 campaign, where Aaron Rodgers led the Packers to their third successive NFC North crown as they finished the regular season 13-4.

The Minnesota Vikings are way clear in the division this year. They currently sit at 7-1 and look likely to make the postseason. However, the Packers look the total opposite. Here are three reasons why their 2022 NFL season is all but done.

Why the Green Bay Packers 2022 NFL season is already done

#1 - Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers isn’t playing nearly as well as he has over his two previous MVP-winning seasons.

Through nine games, he’s thrown 14 touchdowns against seven interceptions, and the seven picks are already three more than he threw in the entire 2021 season.

His passer rating is also at a lowly 89.0, the lowest total since he became a full-time starter for the Packers back in 2008.

Rodgers is clearly missing Davante Adams, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2022 offseason, but that isn’t an excuse for such poor play this season.

#2 - Receiver depth

Another reason the Packers’ season is effectively over is because their receivers just aren’t making enough plays.

Through nine games, Allen Lazard leads the team in yards with just 427. Behind him is tight end Robert Tonyan (315) and rookie receiver Romeo Doubs (314).

Receiver depth has been a problem for the Packers for a while now, but the issue was masked by Rodgers’ connection to superstar receiver Davante Adams. Adams was, of course, traded in the offseason, and Green Bay has failed to replace him, which, in turn, has ruined any sort of hope that this offense had to be a successful unit in the NFL.

#3 - Injuries

The Packers have been one of the most unlucky teams in the NFL in 2022 when it comes to injuries.

So far, superstar players including De’Vondre Campbell, David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins have all dealt with injuries this season.

As well as that, receivers Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Christian Watson have also had their injury issues in 2022.

To top it off, however, in their week nine loss to the Detroit Lions, Aaron Jones, Rashan Gary and Romeo Doubs all suffered injuries that ended their game early.

Rashan Gary tears his ACL, source confirms, and he’ll have an MRI to determine if there is additional damage. More bad luck for the #Packers. twitter.com/jfowlerespn/st…
