Why Xavier Worthy will lead the Chiefs offense to dominance in 2024

Xavier Worthy, the new fastest player ever heading into the NFL, steps into the fray tonight (Sept. 5) vs. the Baltimore Ravens. The 4.21 40-yard-dash time took the football world by storm, and Worthy found his way to Kansas City at the latter stages of the first round. The woeful Chiefs offense of 2023 is no more, and you can expect Patrick Mahomes to return to MVP form.

Worthy, Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown's trio are earth-shattering compared to the Chiefs' receiver room in 2022 and 2023. Hollywood Brown will miss Week 1, but that may not greatly hinder the Chiefs. Worthy's three catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in the brief cameo against the Detroit Lions in the preseason shows what he can do.

The wide receiver burned the Lions defense for one big play on the sideline and burned the defense yet again for a touchdown from Carson Wentz. Worthy is touted as being Tyreek Hill 2.0 for Patrick Mahomes. If you want to double-team Travis Kelce, feel free, but that's just more space for Worthy, Rice and Brown to make house calls.

Worthy picked up 26 touchdowns in just three years at Texas and finished with 1,014 yards in 2023. If the Chiefs WR stays healthy throughout this season, he could easily break 1,000 yards and may even have an outside shot at Offensive Rookie of the Year. The Ravens' defense is as stacked as it gets, but they could easily see themselves embarrassed by the Chiefs' passing game in the season opener.

The new Chiefs No. 1 is going to be a menace for years to come.

Seven wide receivers were selected in the first round of the 2024 draft, including Marvin Harrison Jr and Malik Nabers at fourth and sixth, respectively. However, it's pretty clear who the best quarterback in the NFL is, and good quarterbacks make everyone around them better.

According to VegasInsider.com, Worthy is the sixth favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year — perhaps fifth now after Drake Maye was not listed as the Patriots' starting QB.

This may be the golden generation at the WR position with amazing players throughout the league. The fight to get into the top 10 in the league is about as competitive as it gets for any position in the league. There is no reason why the Kansas City Chiefs can't have two guys in that top 20 and boast a dominant offense.

Keep an eye out for the young Chiefs wideout. If Patrick Mahomes gets a free play, there will be deep shots to Worthy.
