Will Haason Reddick play this week vs Patriots? Latest update on Jets LB as he ends holdout

On April 1, the New York Jets acquired linebacker Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade that sent the Eagles a conditional third-round pick. Four months later, on Aug. 12, Reddick requested a trade from the Jets amid a holdout that left him absent from team activities and games all summer.

On Oct. 15, Jets general manager Joe Douglas granted Reddick permission for a trade. Five days later, on Sunday, Reddick reported back to the team, ending his holdout and agreeing to a reworked contract with New York for this season.

ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter provided an update regarding Reddick's holdout Monday morning. Per Schefter, Reddick and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, were in the Jets building this morning and are getting ready to prepare for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

"Haason Reddick and his agent Drew Rosenhaus are now in the building at the Jets facility," Schefter wrote. "Reddick is with Jets coaches, and getting started with his preparation for Sunday’s game vs. the Patriots."

Reddick will rejoin the Jets after missing the first seven games of the season. The 2-5 New York Jets will hope to flip things around after getting Reddick and acquiring Davante Adams in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders last week.

It's a positive sign that Haason Reddick is ending his holdout and reporting to the New York Jets after holding out for seven weeks.

As he reports to the Jets facility, Reddick and the team will potentially explore a long-term deal. Reddick's agent Drew Rosenhaus told Adam Schefter that the two sides will continue to work on a long-term extension with the Jets.

“We will continue to work towards a long-term extension with the Jets," Rosenhaus said.

The Jets are hopeful that Reddick's presence can help bolster their defense and pass rush. Reddick has been a sack machine for the last four seasons. From 2020-2023, he has registered 50.5 sacks and has been named a Pro Bowler in each of the last two seasons. There's a reason why the Jets traded for him.

The Jets have had a good season from Will McDonald, who has a team-high eight sacks. The second-place leader in sacks for the team is defensive end Michael Clemons, who only has 2.5.

With Haason Reddick expected to play this Sunday against the New England Patriots, do you expect the Jets to have a better pass rush?
