With Tom Brady’s retirement, NFC South now weakest it has ever been

The NFC South is up for grabs next season after Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has officially retired from football on Wednesday.

In a 50-second video posted on Twitter, the 23-year veteran announced that he's retiring for good this time after he initially retired last offseason.

"Good morning, guys. I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring for good," Brady said. "I know the process was a pretty big deal last time. So, when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first so. I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year.
"I really thank you guys so much to everyone single one of you for supporting me. My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors … I can go on forever. There’s too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream."
Truly grateful on this day. Thank you 🙏🏻❤️ https://t.co/j2s2sezvSS

The Buccaneers won the division this season with an 8-9 record. Now without Brady, the only quarterback they have under contract is Kyle Trask. They are not the only team in the division witth questions or needing help at the position.

The Panthers only have Matt Corral and Jacob Eason. Atlanta might be in the best current position with Desmond Ridder and Marcus Mariots, who will likely get cut.

The Saints could enter 2023 with Jameis Winston under center and Jake Luton as their backup.

The Buccaneers won the division last season with just eight wins at 8-9. All of the other teams finished one game behind them at 7-10.

With no Brady and with the other teams rebuilding, you can expect the division to stay close and competitive with a potential new team as NFC South champs next season.
