Would Tom Brady consider signing with the Washington Commanders?

Seeing Tom Brady in a Washington Commanders uniform next year is extremely unlikely. But, hey, stranger things have happened, right?

The seven-time Super Bowl champion is set to become a free agent following the season. He’ll either retire, stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or take his talents to another team.

With the recent benching of Derek Carr, it’s possible that Brady could head to the Las Vegas Raiders next season and replace the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback. Joining the Raiders makes sense, knowing that Brady has a relationship with coach Josh McDaniels, who served as the offensive coordinator when the two were with the New England Patriots.

Plus, being surrounded with offensive weapons like Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, Darren Waller and Josh Jacobs (if he re-signs with the team) would surely make life easier.

The San Francisco 49ers are another team that’s considered an ideal landing spot for Brady. They’re loaded on offense with the likes of Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey. They also possess arguably the best defense in the league, led by elite pass rusher Nick Bosa.

Would Tom Brady actually head to the nation's capital in 2023?

Washington has started two quarterbacks this season in Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke. Both players are decent, but neither one is, well, Tom Brady. Even though he’ll be 46 years old next year, he’s still a major upgrade over either signal-caller.

In D.C., Brady would have an immensely-talented receiver to throw to in Terry McLaurin. The fourth-year pro has recorded 72 catches and 1,092 receiving yards (ninth-best in the league) this season.

Rookie receiver Jahan Dotson is emerging as an excellent complement opposite McLaurin. The former Penn State Nittany Lion has heated up lately, posting 15 receptions for 235 yards and three touchdowns during the month of December.

Washington has a solid defense as well. And if former No. 2 overall pick Chase Young, who has only played one game this season due to injury, can return to form next season, the unit should improve dramatically.

Just because joining the Commanders isn't as intriguing as heading to other teams like San Francisco, Las Vegas or the Miami Dolphins, it doesn’t mean Brady definitely won’t end up relocating to Washington next year.

But at the end of the day, expect him to sign with either the 49ers or Raiders, the two teams that give him the best chance at collecting Super Bowl ring No.8.
