“You ain’t going to see him until August” - Louis Riddick claims Aaron Rodgers won’t be at OTAs again even if traded
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is yet to make a decision on whether or not he wants to remain with the team, be traded, or retire from the NFL.
The 39-year-old is on his 'darkness retreat' and is expected to make a decision and inform the Packers on what he wants to do soon.
While Rodgers could potentially be traded to a new team this off-season, one team linked to him is the New York Jets.
On Get Up, hosted by ESPN, analyst Louis Riddick urged the Jets not to wait on Aaron Rodgers. He doesn't think the young players will get better as Rodgers will miss training camp.
Riddick said:
"You ain't going to see him until August. How is that making Garrett Wilson better? How does that make it a lot better? How is that making Corey Davis better? How's it making Breece Hall better?
"How's it making this football team better if he's not even there if every year just didn't go well, we don't even know if our guy wants to play. We don't know if he wants to go off on a retreat, sit in a dark room, do some shrooms, whatever he's doing, I don't know. You need the right guy."
Riddick added that he wouldn't sit around and wait on Rodgers this off-season.
"I wouldn't be sitting around waiting on Aaron Rodgers doing all this stuff that he does every offseason. I would not be waiting for that."
Should New York Jets pursue Derek Carr over Aaron Rodgers?
While Aaron Rodgers may seem like the best option for the Jets on paper, he may not be in reality. He has looked disinterested at times and brings a lot of drama off the field.
The Jets have a lot of interest in former Las Vegas Raiders QB, Derek Carr. They've met with him and view him as a quarterback that can lead them to a championship. He's a nine-year starter and has made four Pro Bowls.
The Jets could also try to pursue Lamar Jackson if the Baltimore Ravens put him on the trade block.
Otherwise, they could try to trade up in the draft and select a young quarterback as this year's QB class is loaded with talent.
