Why Antonio Brown beefed with Colin Kaepernick after ex-49ers QB was blackballed from the league
Antonio Brown, who seems to entrench himself in controversy quite often, has struck up a conflict with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He called the quarterback trash and insinuated that he didn't want to play football anymore.
He referenced the fact that Kaepernick took a settlement from the league to end the collusion case he was levying against them.
The former wide receiver lit into Kaepernick on the Cigar Talk podcast:
"He took a deal. We don't feel sorry for you. You took the deal. F*** outta here. All that is cap. We ain't respecting that, bro. You took the money, the commercials. We don't see you outside. We don't see him in the hood. He don't do nothing. Like, we cool. But, nah, we ain't even stan Kaepernick."
He continued, even going so far as to say the Know Your Rights foundation isn't helpful:
"He built a foundation. What it do, though? I'm being real. What superhero he enforce? Who he put on? Who he help?"
Suffice it to say, Brown isn't a fan of Kaepernick's humanitarian efforts or his professed desire to return to the NFL and play quarterback once more.
Will either Colin Kaepernick or Antonio Brown play in the NFL again?
At this point, it doesn't seem like Brown will ever suit up again. He's far too much of a liability for any team to sign him at this point. There's no telling how committed he would be or how long he'd play before something went wrong and he left the team hanging like in Tampa Bay.
Combine that with recent off-the-field controversies and even the most wide receiver needy teams aren't giving him a call. It's very unlikely, given his age and track record, that anyone signs him again.
The same is probably true for Kaepernick, though not for the same reasons. He, too, would bring a lot of attention to the team, something that's not wanted, but not for doing anything like what Antonio Brown has done.
Additionally, Kaepernick's been out of the league for so long it's unlikely he'd make an impact. Neither of these players are likely to get another shot.
