Giannis Antetokounmpo’s early life
Giannis Antetokounmpo was born to Nigerian Immigrants in Sepolia, Athens, Greece. He holds Nigerian citizenship in addition to the American one. The 7’ tall small forward began his professional career in Greece in 2011 with Filathlitikos. He played two complete seasons in Greece and then was declared to NBA Draft.
During his period in Greece, he averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He also had 1.0 blocks per game average in that period. Due to his explosive game, although he was not selected as an All-Star in Greek League, coaches selected him for the game and let him play for fans.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was an unknown name in the USA, but with his tryouts, he made a mark in many franchises. He was selected as the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Famously known as “Greek Freak” in the league, Giannis showed fast development. In his Rookie season, Giannis averaged around 9 points per game, which rose to 17 in the 3rd season.
Antetokounmpo developed into an All-Star calibre player in his 4th season, as he scored more than 20 points in 15 consecutive games for the Bucks.
