While some creatures in this are relatively underwhelming, there are some top-shelf possibilities. The event is set to take place on October 12, 2024, leaving us with a short while before the official announcement from Niantic comes.

This article will explore who the best candidates for Pokemon GO October 2024 Mega Raid Day will be.

Best candidates for Pokemon GO October 2024 Mega Raid Day

1) Mega Gallade

Mega Gallade is the last of the Sinnoh region Pocket Monsters to not have its Mega Evolution added to the game yet. It is an extremely hard-hitting creature with base 326 Attack. Unlike its base form, which is quite frail. Mega Gallade gains a ton of staying capacity, with base 230 Defense and 169 Stamina.

Upon introduction, Mega Gallade will emerge as one of the best Psychic- and Fighting-type attackers in the game. If the Mega Master League were to return at some point, it would be a strong contender there as well. The event would also be a great opportunity to bring back its signature move Synchronoise, making it one of the best candidates for Pokemon GO October 2024 Mega Raid Day.

2) Mega Metagross

Mega Metagross is at the top of the order when it comes to the best candidates for Pokemon GO October 2024 Mega Raid Day. It is a formidable beast as a Steel-type attacker, although it is outclassed by Dusk Mane Necrozma with Sunsteel Strike. The creature is still a strict upgrade over its regular form.

Mega Metagross has base 300 Attack, 289 Defense, and 190 HP. Combined with its fantastic moveset, it deals incredible amounts of damage, especially when equipped with its exclusive move Meteor Mash.

3) Mega Mawile

Given the spooky theme of the month, Mega Mawile is one of the best candidates for Pokemon GO October 2024 Mega Raid Day. This would be more of an aesthetic choice, as it would give players the chance to capture the shiny form of this relatively rare critter.

Mega Mawile's base 188 Attack, 217 Defense, and 137 HP don't let it shine as an attacker in PvE, despite having a very favorable Steel- and Fairy-typing. Even in PvP battles, it falls short considering it barely crosses the Ultra League threshold in terms of CP.

4) Mega Sharpedo

Sharpedo is another very hard-hitting but extremely frail attacker in the game. Notwithstanding its relative lack of utility in PvP and PvE battles, its fierce look makes it a suitable pick for a Raid Day taking place during the spooky month.

Mega Sharpedo was used by Team Aqua Leader Archie in the main series games, giving some players a lore connection to the Gen VI Hoenn games. However, with base 289 Attack, 144 Defense, and 172 Stamina, Mega Sharpedo is likely to be relegated to the backlines, given the number of strong Water- and Dark-type attackers present in the game already.

5) Mega Mewtwo X&Y

Although it is next to impossible that this will happen, Mega Mewtwo X&Y would be the best candidates for Pokemon GO October 2024 Mega Raid Day. Upon release, they will emerge as the strongest PvE attackers in the game and will change how PvE battles work extensively—much like Mega Rayquaza.

Mega Mewtwo X has base 412 Attack, 222 Defense, and 235 Stamina, while Mega Mewtwo Y has a whopping 426 Attack, 229 Defense, and the same Stamina. In comparison, Rayquaza's 377 Attack seems small.

Therefore, it is likely that Niantic would even consider the Mega Mewtwos as an option. However, there is no doubt that if it happens, they would by far be the best candidates for Pokemon GO October 2024 Mega Raid Day.
