5 best PvP picks from Pokemon GO's Halloween 2024 Part 1 event
1) Sableye
Great League's favorite goblin is back in the encounter tables as Sableye returns as a rare wild spawn during Pokemon GO's Halloween celebration. Featuring a low combat power limit and a Ghost and Dark typing, Sableye can enter fights at full power, supported by one of the best defensive typings in the franchise, only leaving it weak to Fairy-type attacks.
Being a defensive Pokemon with a great typing and access to Shadow Claw, Sableye and its purified variant have become absolute menaces in the Great League. It excels at bullying opponents into using all of their shields thanks to its quick charged attacks and heavy fast attack damage.

2) Yamask
Yamask evolves into Cofagrigus. This Ghost-type boasts one of the highest defense stats of any non-Legendary creature of the same element. It can be a bit costly to max out, but since Yamask has been such a common spawn recently, players should have no problem collecting the necessary resources.
Cofagrigus is another Ghost-type defensive pick with access to Shadow Claw and great charged attacks for coverage. While it does not perform as well as Sableye in the Great League, it fairs much better in the Ultra League, where few other non-Legendaries contest its utility.

3) Frillish
Frillish will be another wild spawn players can find during Pokemon GO's Halloween celebration. This creature evolves into Jellicent, a notorious Water and Ghost-type tank in the game's Ultra League. With access to Ghost, Water, and Ice-type moves, Jellicent can safely sit in on most match-ups, being able to withstand the damage with its high bulk.
Jellicent's unique typing makes it one of the few viable tanks with decent damage output, with its only real counters being other creatures that can out-tank it. In the Ultra League, the Pocket Monster's moveset typically includes Water, Ice, and Ghost-type attacks, hitting most of the roster for neutral damage or better. With enough investment, Jellicent can prove to be a very helpful ally.

4) Umbreon
Umbreon is one of the Raid Bosses players will come across in Three-Star Raid Battles during Pokemon GO's Halloween event. This evolution of Eevee features a high defense stat and a pure Dark typing. On top of being a member of one of the most beloved lines of Pokemon, it is also one of the best defensive Dark-types in the game.
Thanks to its pure Dark typing and bulk, it ends up being the perfect counter to Giratina and Cresselia, two of the most common Legendary Pokemon in both the Great League and Ultra League. It also sports spammable charged attacks with debuff potential in Psychic.

5) Drifloon
Drifloon will be another must-have from Pokemon GO's Halloween event. This creature evolves into Drifblim, arguably one of the best and most oppressive Ghost-type tanks in the Great and Ultra League. It will take some investment to make the most of the tools this creature has at its disposal, but it is well worth the effort.
Drifblim is a Ghost and Flying-type, and one of the few creatures of this distinct elemental combination in the franchise. This grants it safety from the many Ground-types that populate the game's competitive scene. It also has access to Mystical Fire and Icy Wind, two charged attacks that lower the target's attack stat.
