5 best shinies to look out for during Pokemon GO Galarian Expedition
Pokemon GO’s Galarian Expedition is set to introduce a lot of Shiny Pokemon into the game. The event will feature four Legendary Pokémon from the Galar region: Zamazenta, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres. Additionally, Niantic has confirmed that Team GO Rocket will return for the latter half of the occasion. With so much new content arriving, players might be curious about which shiny critters to collect first.
This article lists five of the most valuable Shiny Pokemon debuting in Pokemon GO’s Galarian Expedition event.
5 valuable Shiny Pokemon to find during Pokemon GO's Galarian Expedition
1) Galarian Zapdos
Galarian Zapdos is one of three Legendary Pokemon that can be encountered through the Daily Adventure Incense. However, it will not receive an increase to its spawn rate during the Galarian Expedition, so it will still be incredibly rare to find.
Galarian Zapdos is also known to flee incredibly often. However, there is a chance that its shiny form will be unable to flee or will have a higher catch rate, like Shiny Raid Bosses.
Galarian Zapdos achieves its value solely through its rarity, as the species is not considered to be competitively viable. However, it is a decent Fighting-type raid battler due to its access to Counter and Close Combat.
2) Galarian Moltres
Galarian Moltres is another Legendary Pokemon players can find by using the Daily Adventure Incense. Once again, the critter will be incredibly rare, making its shiny variant even rarer. It will also not receive a boost to its shiny odds. Much like Galarian Zapdos, it is incredibly likely to flee when encountered in the wild.

Unlike Galarian Zapdos, Galarian Moltres is a very good choice for Pokemon GO's competitive Battle League. With its strong movepool and great defensive typing, it is considered to be an upgrade to Mandibuzz. However, this also leaves it outclassed in the Master League, as Yveltal is an upgrade to Galarian Moltres.
3) Galarian Articuno
Galarian Articuno is the final Legendary Pokemon that can be found through the Daily Adventure Incense. Like the others, it will not receive an increase in its spawn rate, and its shiny odds will not be touched either. It also has a high chance of fleeing when encountered.
Galarian Articuno is arguably the worst of the Galarian Legendary Birds for Pokemon GO's competitive scene. Though its Psychic and Flying typing is interesting, and it does have a decent stat spread, its movepool has very little synergy, and it has a very slow rate of energy generation.
4) Zamazenta
Zamazenta is the big attraction to Pokemon GO's Galarian Expedition and will be available through Five-Star Raid Battles. Since it is the Hero of Many Battles form and not the Crowned variety, it will not be at full power. This means experienced raiders should have no trouble taking it down.
Since it is a Five-Star Raid Boss, Zamazenta will also have an increased chance of appearing in its shiny form compared to standard wild creatures.

Zamazenta is not the best choice for use in competitive play. While it does have a great defensive stat, its pure Fighting typing does not support this. Its playstyle of charging Close Combat quickly wears down its defensive stats, meaning it may not be the best choice until its Crowned form releases.
5) Shiny Shadow Sableye
During the second week of the Galarian Expedition event, Team GO Rocket will take over, refreshing the parties of each member of the villainous organization. Shadow Sableye will be one of the new creatures that can be encountered in its shiny form if players get lucky.
Shadow Sableye is valuable more for its ability to be purified. This is thanks to it being one of the few creatures capable of viably using the Return move. This is a Normal-type charged attack that replaces Frustration when a Shadow Pokemon is purified. For this reason, it excels in the Great League.
