5 reasons to be excited for Pokemon GO Halloween Part 1
Pokemon GO's upcoming Halloween event is about to begin, and many Ghost-type Pokemon are on their way to the game's encounter tables. On top of this, a new creature is set to debut during this event: Galar's respective Pikachu clone, Morpeko. With this event marking the official start of the festive celebrations in Niantic's mobile title, many players will be excited about it.
A lot of content will be coming to Pokemon GO for the Halloween season. As can be gathered from the name of the event, the Halloween celebration will once again be separated into two parts. Thankfully, the first half has a lot of things for casual and hardcore players to be excited about. Here are five reasons to look forward to this upcoming event.

5 things to look forward to in Pokemon GO's Halloween 2024 Part 1 event
1) More costumed Pokemon
It has been confirmed that more costumed variants of iconic creatures will be coming to Pokemon GO during the first part of the Halloween event. Unlike prior events, these costumes will not be available in the wild. Instead, players interested in these variants will need to purchase a $2 ticket for the timed research.
While this may sound unfortunate for collectors, this was most likely done to solve the issue of these variants taking spots in the encounter table away from other valuable spawns. This ticket also grants interested trainers every costumed variant available, rather than requiring them to get lucky with wild spawns.

2) Dynamax Gastly
Gastly will be joining the list of available Max Battle Bosses in Pokemon GO during the first part of the Halloween event. Finally, players have a Ghost-type Pokemon they can use in fights against Dynamax Pokemon. Very fitting that Niantic would choose the Gastly line, the first Ghost-types to come to the franchise, as the first Ghost-type Max Pokemon.
Datamines have uncovered that Gigantamax Gengar will be present for the second part of the game's Halloween celebration, so the upcoming Gastly Max Battles will give solo trainers the best chance of getting a usable Gengar for Max Battles. This is due to the massive difficulty level these raids will possess, emphasized by the increased lobby size of 40 trainers.

3) Morpeko
As briefly mentioned previously, Morpeko will be joining Pokemon GO's roster starting at the debut of this Halloween event. Morpeko is heavily advertised as a creature with a focus on the Battle League, as it will be capable of changing forms in the middle of these fights. With every charged attack, Morpeko will switch between its Full Belly mode and its Hangry mode.
This will also affect the element of its signature charged attack, Aura Wheel. With each form, it changes between dealing Electric and Dark-type damage, essentially giving it access to an additional charged attack. While its performance in competitive play has yet to be seen, it will surely be one of the more interesting creatures players have to pick from.

4) Free Mega Energy
Mega Energy can be a very dangerous resource to farm for, as accumulations of the resource can usually only be gathered from completing Mega Raids. However, every trainer will have the opportunity to earn some for free by completing field research tasks. This means players can save their raid passes for creatures they actually want to fight, rather than using them to farm for Mega Evolutions.
Mega Energy for Gengar, Houndoom, Sableye, Banette, and Absol can be farmed for free using these event research tasks. This will be exceptionally useful for Gengar, as it is considered to be one of the strongest Ghost-types players can use for Raid Battles in all of Pokemon GO.
5) Shiny Umbreon and Zorua
Fan favorites, Zorua and Umbreon, will see a rise in their their shiny odds during the event. Umbreon will be one of the Three-Star Raid Bosses players can encounter during the event, so skilled players should find grinding for a Shiny Umbreon very easy.
Shiny Zorua will be slightly harder to find as it disguises itself as the player's active Buddy Pokemon. Many players register their Buddy Pokemon as a Legendary or another rare creature to make identifying a Zorua in the wild much easier. It would be safe to assume that these shiny rates will put encountering a Shiny Zorua around 1 in 25.
