"All this in 2024": Pokemon GO players react to Mankey Community Day announcement

Many Pokemon GO players have noticed a large number of Mankey appearing in the game ever since the beginning of 2024. With news of November 2024's Community Day featuring the iconic Fighting-type from the first generation, many fans online have had enough.

User Entire_Pineapple4732 posted on the Pokemon GO subreddit, pointing out all the times Mankey has received an increase in its spawn rate throughout the years. They said:

"All this in 2024. Did we really need a Mankey Community Day on top of these?"

In their post, they show the August Spotlight Hour, the recent Oranguru and Passimian Research Day, January's Battle Week, and the Biome Update, which increased the spawn rate of most Kanto Pokemon. They finally show the Mankey Community Day, asking why Mankey, in particular, has been receiving this much attention from Niantic.

The community's collective love for monkeys paired with the power and value of Mankey's new final evolution, Annihilape, has raised excitement for the creature's Community Day. Many fans have also expressed interest in finally adding a Shiny Mankey to their collection.

Mankey's Community Day will also add Annihilape's signature move, Rage Fist, to Pokemon GO, which should make the creature even more impressive in competitive play. Rage Fist is a Ghost-type move, which should finally give it the spammable Ghost-type charged attack it has been waiting for since Annihilape's introduction to the game.

User OnVa54 tried to understand why some players in the community may be unhappy with the overabundance of Mankeys in Pokemon GO. Being an online game, differing spawns are a huge part of keeping the game fresh for new and long-term players alike.

With Mankey being present in Pokemon GO since the start of 2024, some players may be hoping to see some new creatures make an appearance for a change. Even in the realm of old Pokemon that recently got new evolutions, Pawniard, Bisharp, and Kingambit should receive some love from Niantic as well.

Pokemon GO's Niantic Community Day will give players a heightened chance of encountering a Shiny Mankey, which is always valuable in the eyes of shiny hunters. The introduction of Rage Fist into Annihilape's arsenal is also welcomed by competitive players who have grown tired of the cumbersome Shadow Ball option the creature has been forced to run for Ghost-type coverage.
