All Pokemon GO Community Days in 2024, ranked from worst to best

Pokemon GO's monthly Community Day celebration is a time many trainers look forward to. Unlike other events, Community Days are beloved by both the casual and competitive playerbases due to the occasion adding a new move to the creature it highlights and also because it gives players an easier time finding its shiny variant as well.

However, not every Community Day over the last year has been a winner. With many players complaining about the frequency of Kanto Pokemon appearing throughout the season, did not appreciate some of the Community Days the game had to offer in 2024.

As of writing, December 2024's Community Day has not been announced, so it is not present on this ranking.

Ranking every Community Day in Pokemon GO 2024

11) Chansey

Chansey was the Community Day released for February 2024. While it is one of the rare occasions where one of these events commemorated an evolved creature, Chansey was never really a popular Pokemon in the first place. Outside of sticking a Blissey in a gym every now and then, Chansey has no real use in battles due to its stats maximizing its stamina at the cost of attack and defense.

10) Bounsweet

Tsareena getting the High Jump Kick did not fix some of the issues many players had with the creature (Image via Niantic)

May 2024's Community Day brought Bounsweet into the spotlight, giving its final evolution access to the move, High Jump Kick. This would be a decent addition if Tsareena was a part Fighting-type like its design would suggest. Pure Grass is also not a great offensive or defensive type, so May's Community Day felt like a waste for many.

9) Sewaddle

Leavanny has one of the worst type combinations in the franchise (Image via Niantic)

Sewaddle being featured in October's Community Day left many players unsure of how to feel. While Leavanny does have decent damage potential, being capable of spamming Leaf Blade, its Grass and Bug typing made it one of the worst defensive battlers in not just Pokemon GO, but the whole franchise.

8) Ponyta

Ponyta's Community Day did have the unique benefit of featuring both regional variants of a Pokemon, but Rapidash is not very good in Pokemon GO (Image via Niantic)

Ponyta's Community Day in September featured both forms of Ponyta, and gave their evolutions access to Wild Charge, an Electric-type charged attack. Sadly, Ponyta and its evolutions are not the best choices of their respective types for competitive play. Galarian Rapidash has the upper hand thanks to its Fairy and Psychic type combination, in addition to its wide array of coverage moves.

7) Tynamo

Tynamo was the subject of July's Community Day and brought Volt Switch to Eelektross' arsenal. While this move has become its best option, it still performs less than optimally. This is due to the creature being built around its ability, Levitate, which mitigates its only weakness. With many of its abilities not in Pokemon GO, Eelektross is simply not as good as other options.

6) Bellsprout

While Victreebel is a decent Grass and Poison-type, Venusaur is the competitive and PvE standard (Image via Niantic)

Bellsprout and family were featured during April's Community Day and brought Magical Leaf to Victreebel's arsenal. Victreebel has never been the best competitive battler, but in formats where Vensaur is banned, it can make for a solid replacement. This event also came during a time when the community was getting bored of Kanto Pokemon.

5) Goomy

Goomy's Community Day brought Thunder Punch to Goodra's movepool, which gives it some helpful Electric coverage (Image via Niantic)

Goomy featured in June's Community Day and gave the Pseudo-Legendary line some much-needed coverage in Thunder Punch. Goodra was a decent Dragon-type in many tiers of Pokemon GO's competitive scene, but this new move gave it some more adaptability, leading to the critter being used more.

4) Mankey

Mankey's Community Day brought a much-needed upgrade to Annihilape's movepool (Image via Niantic)

Mankey's Community Day is the most recent as of writing, taking place on November 10th. While the upgrade to Annihilape's moveset is seemingly quite helpful, it is still too early to say if Rage Fist has made improvements to Annihilape in the metagame. That being said, since the Pokemon was quite good beforehand, the inclusion of a new move can only make it better.

3) Litten

Litten was the Pokemon of interest for the game's March Community Day, and it was an occasion many fans have been waiting for since the Alolan starters debuted. The issue with the new Starter Pokemon in the game is that they do not have access to their signature charged attack until their respective Community Day. With Litten's evolution finally having Blast Burn, it is no longer outclassed by almost every other Fire-type starter in Pokemon GO.

2) Rowlet

Rowlet had the first Community Day for 2024, and much like Litten's, finally brought the Grass-type starter signature move to Rowlet's final evolution. With this move, Decidueye can finally deal damage comparable to the other Grass-type starters, finally giving players a reason to try it in Pokemon GO's competitive Battle League.

1) Popplio

Popplio's Community Day was hosted in August, and much like the entries prior, brought its respective signature move to its catalog. Primarina always had potential thanks to its great defensive typing of Fairy and Water, as well as its sturdy bulk. With it having Hydro Cannon, Primarina has had the chance to thrive in higher tiers of Pokemon GO's Battle League.
