All Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO ranked based on power

Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon are among the strongest creatures in Pokemon GO. However, not all of them are created equally. While these Pocket Monsters have close to the same base stat total in the mobile game, they have other features that can help or harm their performance in competitive play.

Here is every Pseudo-Legendary currently available in Pokemon GO, ranked from worst to best in terms of competitive viability.

10) Tyranitar

Tyranitar may be an imposing force in the main series, but Pokemon GO's real-time battle system highlights its biggest weakness: its Dark and Rock typing.

This combination leaves Tyranitar incredibly vulnerable to Fighting-, Fairy-, Steel-, and Ground-type attacks, which are in abundance in higher tiers of play.

9) Metagross

Metagross is a great Raid Battler, but it falls short in the competitive scene (Image via Game Freak)

Metagross' Steel and Psychic typing makes it quite the potent threat in Raid Battles, but this combination can be rather underwhelming in competitive play, thanks to the abundance of Ground- and Ghost-type critters.

Fire is also a common coverage option used by Dragon-type Pocket Monsters, which populate a high percentage of teams in higher ranks.

8) Salamence

Salamence's frail stat distribution and underwhelming typing makes it incredibly inconsistent in competitive play (Image via Game Freak)

Salamence has the makings of a great Pseudo-Legendary and is still used from time to time in the main series.

However, Pokemon GO's real-time battle system puts heavy emphasis on defense since creatures are constantly under fire. This means Salamence's glass cannon stat build significantly harms its viability.

7) Garchomp

Garchomp is another great choice for Raid Battles due to its glass cannon build, but this ends up working against it in competitive play.

Most Pseudo-Legendaries have quadruple weaknesses to one element, which can work against them in competitive play, where match-ups can be unpredictable.

6) Baxcalibur

Baxcalibur's type combination is a little better than the other glass cannon Pseudos, but its type combination is still somewhat lackluster (Image via Game Freak)

Baxcalibur is the second-most recent Pseudo-Legendary to come to Pokemon GO. However, it follows a similar build to the previous two entries, being a glass cannon.

Since Baxcalibur is a Dragon- and Ice-type critter, it does not have any quadruple weaknesses, putting it slightly above the other glass cannons discussed thus far.

5) Hydreigon

Hydreigon is another glass cannon, but it sports the quadruple weakness trait many Pseudos also have (Image via Game Freak)

Hydreigon is another Pocket Monster many players use as a glass cannon. However, unlike the other glass cannons on the list, it has the best defense stat of the bunch, sitting at a high base 188.

Hydreigon also has access to Flash Cannon, a Steel-type attack that can target its biggest weakness: Fairy-type Pokemon.

4) Dragapult

Dragapult is the newest Pseudo-Legendary to come to Pokemon GO, which means a lot of players have yet to adapt their playstyle to play against it.

With a glass cannon build and the same type as Giratina, Dragapult is very scary at the moment, but its viability may soon fall off as trainers get used to seeing it.

3) Kommo-o

Kommo-o is an amazing Dragon-type Pokemon for both raids and competitive battles. It is also the only Dragon- and Fighting-type critter available in Pokemon GO.

Kommo-o is viable in the Great, Ultra, and Master League tiers of competitive play, making it one of the most versatile creatures in the game.

2) Goodra

The recent Goomy Community Day seemed to have really helped out the Goodra line as the critters are now considered to be one of the best Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon in the game.

With great bulk and access to various different coverage options in its moveset, Goodra is also viable in all tiers of competitive play.

1) Dragonite

Dragonite continues to be the king of Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon in Niantic's mobile game, thanks to its amazing bulk and access to Steel-, Fighting-, and Normal-type coverage.

With its strong Flying- and Dragon-type moves benefiting from the Same-Type Attack Bonus, Dragonite and its Shadow form are top-tier threats in the Master and Ultra Leagues.
