Amped and Low Key: Which Toxtricity form is better in Pokemon GO and how to get them
The Into the Wild event introduced Toxel into Pokemon GO via eggs, marking its much-anticipated debut. Meanwhile, Toxtricity, its electrifying evolution, makes its first appearance in raids and Dynamax battles during the GO Wild Area event. But is this Electric/Poison hybrid worth your Stardust and resources?
Let’s dive into its viability across different game modes and break down how to obtain its two unique forms: Amped and Low Key.

Toxtricity in Pokemon GO: Is Amped or Low Key better?
In Pokemon GO, the two forms are purely aesthetic. Unlike the main series games, where their abilities and evolutions differ, both forms perform identically in the mobile version. This means you can choose your favorite based on their looks without worrying about battle performance.
Toxtricity won’t dethrone the top Electric or Poison attackers anytime soon, but it has its charm. It’s a unique Pokemon that can serve as an anti-meta pick in PvP or as a valuable Electric Gigantamax attacker in Max battles.

Toxtricity’s viability in GO Raids
As a raid attacker, Toxtricity, unfortunately, doesn’t shine. With a base attack stat of 224, it falls short compared to Electric heavyweights like Zekrom, Xurkitree and Thundurus. Its Poison typing offers potential, but the lack of a strong Poison-type charged move (Acid Spray is its only option) limits its effectiveness in this category.

Toxtricity in Pokemon GO: Max Battles
Toxtricity has better utility in Dynamax and Gigantamax battles. Its normal Dynamax form can use Max Ooze, a powerful Poison-type move, to great effect. However, its Gigantamax form elevates its potential even further with G-Max Stun Shock.
While Gigantamax Pikachu is another Electric option, Toxtricity’s unique typing and solid Electric attacks make it an excellent choice for Max battles, especially in situations requiring Electric-type coverage.

Toxtricity in Pokemon GO: PvP analysis
In PvP, Toxtricity’s Electric/Poison typing gives it niche utility. It threatens common types like Water, Fairy, and Grass simultaneously, making it particularly effective against Azumarill. However, its glassy stat distribution makes it vulnerable, with defenses even lower than Greninja.
Ground types, which are prominent in the current meta, are its biggest counters. Pokemon like Gastrodon, Galarian Stunfisk and Claydol can easily take it down.
That said, Toxtricity isn’t without its merits. In the lower leagues, it has respectable win rates, particularly in the Ultra League. It can effectively counter Pokemon like Tentacruel, Drapion, and Talonflame. Additionally, it might find a niche in limited formats, such as the Electric Cup.

How to get Toxtricity in Pokemon GO
During the Into the Wild event, you can hatch Toxel from 10 km eggs. While the adorable Baby Pokemon isn’t battle-ready, it evolves into Toxtricity, which is where the excitement begins.
Toxtricity comes in two forms: Amped and Low Key. Unlike the main series games, where the forms depend on Toxel’s nature, there’s no functional difference between the two in the game. The only distinction is their appearance. When evolving Toxel, the form you get will be random, making it a fun collectible challenge for trainers who want both versions.
Other than the hatching process, Toxtricity will appear in Max Raids or Gigantamax Raids, but players can also encounter its Dynamax form during the in-person Wild Area event. By completing additional Max Raids, players can progress through a research task that rewards them with a Dynamax Toxtricity.
Whether you are collecting both forms for the Pokedex or planning to experiment with it in battle, Toxtricity adds a spark to Pokemon GO.
