How to solo defeat Zamazenta in Pokemon GO 5-star raids
Players wishing to solo defeat Zamazenta in Pokemon GO 5-star raids would be happy to know that it is possible to do so—however, there is only one creature that can achieve this feat, and under specific conditions.
Under most circumstances, you cannot take down Zamazenta on your own. This could create some trouble for those living in areas without an active community to take part in these challenges as the Pokemon Shield mascot returns at 10 am local time on October 4, 2024. Thankfully, you can use Remote Raid Passes to challenge Zamazenta before it exits the raid cycle at 10 am local time on October 14.
This article will cover the specific conditions that you must fulfill to solo defeat Zamazenta in Pokemon GO 5-star raids. It will also discuss the reasons that make it very difficult to solo defeat and tell you about the top counters to take it down using as few challengers as possible.
How to solo defeat Zamazenta 5-star raids raids Pokemon GO
u/Nakaidou_Shindou showed in a Reddit post that Zamazenta can be solo defeated by a level 50 Mega Rayquaza that knows Air Slash and Dragon Ascent when the weather is Windy. Moreover, the Zamazenta you are facing must not know either Ice Fang or Moonblast, as these would deal too much damage to your attacker, leading it to faint multiple times, bringing up the total time taken to defeat over 300 seconds.
Additionally, you have to dodge at least some of the Charged Attacks coming your way to make sure your Mega Rayquaza doesn't succumb to wounds too often.
Why is it so difficult to solo defeat Zamazenta in Pokemon GO 5-star raids?
It is so difficult to solo defeat Zamazenta in Pokemon GO 5-star raids because:
- Zamazenta is a mono Fighting-type creature without any double weaknesses.
- Besides a fixed HP pool of 15,000 and a hard-hitting 254 Attack, it also has 236 base Defense. As a result, even with STAB super-effective attacks from the most powerful creatures in the game, it is extremely difficult to whittle down the health bar within the 300-second limitation.
- The Pokemon Shield mascot hits hard and has a wide range of attacks to tackle enemies.
Maxed-out creatures like Mega Raquaza with Dragon Ascent can achieve the feat under very specific conditions while beasts like Shadow Mewtwo with Psystrike don't even come close.

Note that while the prospect of soloing 5-star raids can be exciting, the mechanic was designed to encourage community participation. If you have the option, try to make the best of the support from your fellow trainers for the best results.
