Everything to know about Armarouge in Pokemon Unite

Armarouge is set to make a fiery debut on Pokemon Unite's Aeos Island, and understanding its moves is key for those eager to master this Pokemon. This intermediate difficulty Fire and Psychic-type ranged attacker will be available from September 12, 2024, onwards. Here’s a breakdown of what Armarouge brings to Pokemon Unite, focusing on its role and unique abilities.

Armarouge in Pokemon Unite: Role, Passive Ability and Boosted Attacks

Role: Attacker

Passive Ability (Flash Fire): When Armarouge is hit by a Special Attack move, it takes reduced damage for a short amount of time and deals extra damage with its next basic attack.

Boosted Attack: As Armarouge, your boosted auto-attacks can create a small area of flame around your opponents. If you hit them with either Fire Spin or Armor Cannon, you will ignite the flame, dealing extra damage after you have applied three stacks.

Additionally, you have a boosted gauge under your health bar, which fills up by landing multiple auto-attacks or using your secondary moves. Once fully charged, it enhances your next move with a shotgun-like effect, hitting multiple enemies at once.

Before evolving into Armarouge at level 5, you will begin as a Charcadet with two early-game moves: Incinerate and Will-O-Wisp at levels 1 and 3.

  • Incinerate: This move places a mark on opponents that explodes after a short time, dealing damage over time. Additionally, opponents hit by Incinerate will receive less healing from berries.
  • Will-O-Wisp: A more straightforward attack, Will-O-Wisp deals burst damage upon contact and affects a small area, burning and slowing enemies. After using this move, Charcadet’s next attack becomes a boosted attack, enhancing its early-game damage and efficiency.

Charcadet’s boosted attack triggers after every third basic attack, dealing extra damage - a useful feature that changes when it evolves.

Once you hit level 5, Armarouge evolves and gains access to two powerful move options: Fire Spin or Armor Cannon.

1) Fire Spin: Fire Spin focuses on a close-quarters, brawling playstyle. When used, it deals continuous damage to opponents and buffs Armarouge’s defense and special defense for a short duration, potentially granting around a 30% boost if all ticks of the attack land.

  • Upgrades: Fire Spin gives you increased movement speed when hitting opponents

2) Armor Cannon: Armor Cannon transforms Armarouge into a long-range, damage-dealing powerhouse. It shoots a powerful fireball that stuns opponents on impact, giving you a brief window to capitalize on the opening. However, using Armor Cannon comes with a trade-off: it lowers Armarouge’s defense and special defense slightly.

  • Upgrades: The plus version of Armor Cannon increases its range, as well as the range of your auto-attacks

Once you hit level 7, Armarouge gains access to two other move options: Flame Charge or Psyshock.

1) Flame Charge: This move lets you charge into foes while filling up Armarouge’s boosted meter. The move also grants a shield on impact, increasing Armarouge’s survivability. Additionally, hitting an enemy reduces Flame Charge’s cooldown, allowing for quicker re-engagements.

  • Upgrades: Flame Charge provides damage reduction.

2) Psyshock: This secondary move deals damage in front of you over three hits, each hitting a bigger area than the previous one, with the final blow knocking enemies away. This increases the potential for combos, such as following up Psyshock’s knock-up with an Armor Cannon stun, effectively locking down opponents.

  • Upgrades: Psyshock’s upgrade expands the area of effect of its final hit, which can be crucial for knocking up multiple enemies in team fights.
