Everything you need to know about Pokemon GO's latest raid feature

Raids have become a major feature in Pokemon GO, especially with the recent introduction of Max Battles, which have further emphasized their importance in the mobile title. In a recent update, a brand-new feature called Raid Sharing has been introduced in the game, making it even easier for players to join raids.

Raid Sharing allows players to join raids remotely from their friends list. Although trainers have been able to send out invites for some time, the process has often been slow and buggy, with notifications easily missed.

Using the Raid Sharing feature in Pokemon GO is incredibly straightforward. When players access their friend list, they will be able to see whether or not their buddies are waiting in a raid lobby. If they are, trainers will be able to see exactly which boss their friends are about to face.

From the friends list, players can select a friend in a lobby and then choose the option to join them. If trainers are not near the raid location, the game will prompt them to purchase a Remote Raid Pass, which costs 195 Pokecoins, roughly equivalent to $2 USD per unit.

Although this is a small change to the game's social mechanics, it is likely to have a significant impact on player interactions. With enough friends, players will almost always find a raid to join at any time. However, since this feature primarily targets remote raiding, casual, free-to-play trainers might not get as much opportunity to try it out.

How to make the most of Pokemon GO's Raid Sharing

Raid Sharing makes joining raids in Pokemon GO easier than ever. However, players need friends on their account to use the mechanic. Thankfully, finding other trainers to exchange friend codes with is quite easy for those active on social media or similar message boards.

Collecting as many friends as possible has been a long-time optimal strategy in Niantic's mobile game, thanks to the existence of gifts. Gifts are items players can collect from PokeStops to send to others on their friend list. This has been the best way to get free items and eggs in the game, aside from PokeStops themselves.

With the introduction of Raid Sharing, players now have even more incentive to add others to their friend list, creating a more social experience. Discord servers and Facebook groups are excellent places for trainers to quickly expand their in-game friend list, making these platforms great starting points.
