How to get Galarian Moltres in Pokemon GO, and can it be shiny?

Galarian Moltres is one of the rarest creatures to find in the wild in Pokemon GO. Having an incredibly low spawn rate and an even lower catch rate, this Pocket Monster has eluded many trainers ever since its debut. However, it is set to receive a major update during the Galarian Expedition event that is bound to make it even more valuable among collectors.

The Galarian Expedition event is set to take place on October 4, 2024, and will bring Galarian Moltres' shiny form into the game. However, Galarian Moltres will still be an incredibly rare spawn, meaning players may have to learn a bit more about the creature before they can effectively hunt for it.

Galarian Moltres can be very diffiuclt to find in Pokemon GO, especially when taking into consideration that its spawns are not guaranteed with every use of the Daily Adventure Incense.

The use of the Daily Adventure Incense is crucial for finding Galarian Moltres, as it will not spawn if the item is not active.

Players can slightly help their odds of finding Galarian Moltres by hunting in optimal weather conditions. Thanks to the game's weather boost feature, certain creatures have a better chance of spawning depending on the weather.

Since Galarian Moltres is a Dark and Flying-type Pokemon, it has the best chance of spawning in windy and foggy weather.

When is Shiny Galarian Moltres coming to Pokemon GO?

As briefly mentioned prior, Shiny Galarian Moltres will debut in Niantic's mobile title when the Galarian Expedition event begins on October 4, 2024.

From then on, Galarian Moltres will always be available for shiny hunters to find. However, it will not have an increased chance of appearing in this variant due to it being a wild spawn.

One detail that has left some players concerned is the overwhelming chance this creature has to flee when attempting to capture it. With this bird already being incredibly likely to flee, it is possible that its shiny form will retain this trait. This is not a problem for Shiny Legendaries captured through raids as they have a 100% capture rate.

This could be why Niantic is offering a Masterwork Research ticket that can be purchased for the Galarian Expedition event for $7.99 USD. This Masterwork Research rewards players with a Master Ball, an item with a 100% chance to catch any Pokemon it is thrown at.

Is Galarian Moltres good in Pokemon GO PvP?

Galarian Moltres has turned out to be a surprisingly good choice in the Great and Ultra Leagues due to its stats and defensive type combination. In fact, many players consider it a direct upgrade to Mandibuzz, one of the best Flying-type critters in the game's competitive scene. However, it falls short in the Master League as Yveltal is considered to be a direct upgrade to it.
