How to get Shadow Venipede in Pokemon GO, and can it be shiny?
Pokemon GO's Galarian Expedition event is set to begin on October 8, 2024, and will bring many new Shadow Pokemon into the game, including the Legendary Shadow Heatran. Among the new Shadow Pokemon to come to the game is Venipede, one of the Bug types that players can find somewhat early on in the Unova region.
Shadow Pokemon often offer a unique playstyle to their standard variants. This is thanks to their Shadow Boost, which boosts their attack by 20% at the cost of 10% of their defense stat. Shadow Venipede may bring a new future for its species. While its shiny form is not currently available, it may come to Pokemon GO at a later date. Read on to know more.
How to find Shadow Venipede in Pokemon GO
It has been confirmed that Shadow Venipede will not be available through encounters with any of Team GO Rocket admins, which means players can only encounter it through Team GO Rocket grunts. However, it may be hard to track down for the first hours of the event as its dual typing means it could appear under the ownership of two different grunts.
Being a Bug- and Poison-type, it has the potential to appear on the teams of grunts who specialize in both Poison- and Bug-type Pokemon. For the time being, players should be on the lookout for grunts who say either of the two lines before combat, as they could be Shadow Venipede's original trainer:
- "Go, my super bug Pokemon!"
- "Coiled and ready to strike!"
Most grunts also have a table of Pokemon that are available to them, which means finding a grunt that uses the exact same team as another of their given element is highly unlikely. With this in mind, players only have between a 33% and a 50% chance of encountering a Shadow Venipede when challenging its respective grunt.

How to find Shiny Shadow Venipede when it is added to Pokemon GO
Being one of the newest Shadow Pokemon to come to the game, Shadow Venipede's shiny form is unavailable, but this could change in the near future. When it is eventually added to the game, players will either be able to catch it through Shadow Raids or by getting lucky after defeating a Team GO Rocket member.

Will Shadow Venipede be good in Pokemon GO?
Shadow Venipede will ultimately evolve into Shadow Scolipede, which may have some potential in the Great League metagame. Scolipede already has less-than-average bulk with its low defense and stamina, but the Shadow Boost may allow it to dig even further into its damaging potential. This could possibly result in it becoming a popular glass cannon option.
