How to OHKO Dark Feraligatr 7-star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Following the success of the recent Gengar Halloween raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Game Freak has released a new limited-time 7-Star Dark Feraligatr Tera Raid Boss for daring trainers to test their might against. Being the most difficult tier of Tera Raids in the game, some players may have some trouble taking this beast down.

However, these raids can be incredibly simplified by an experienced battler. Some creatures in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are more than capable of taking down this boss in only one attack. Of course, some set-up and support are required, but you can easily pull off this strategy with the right counter. Here is everything you should know if you intend on one-shotting the new Dark Feraligatr Tera Raid Boss.

Before taking on this challenge, you may want to know a little more about the Raid Boss. This rendition of Feraligatr boasts the Dark Tera Typing, increasing the damage of its Crunch attack and changing its typing to match the element. Understandably, you cannot take on this boss like you would a standard Feraligatr due to this factor.

Feraligatr will also have its Sheer Force ability, which increases the base damage of moves with secondary effects at the cost of mitigating those effects. It has access to Crunch, Liquidation, Ice Punch, and Psychic Fangs. Each of these moves benefits from this ability. Additionally, Feraligatr uses Swords Dance, Dragon Dance, and Earthquake at different points in the fight.

While this all sounds daunting, there is a strategy you can use to take down Feraligatr before it has the chance to further fortify itself. It is easy to pull off, but the creature needed for this can be a bit hard to come by for those playing Pokemon Violet.

One of the most consistent ways to one-shot Dark Feraligatr is to use Koraidon, the mascot legend of Pokemon Scarlet. This creature is a Dragon and Fighting-type with impressive damage potential. With the right build, Koraidon can easily take down Dark Feraligatr in one or more shots depending on the support given.

Here is a build players should use if they intend on one-shotting Dark Feraligatr with Koraidon:

  • Nature: Adamant (+Attack, -Special Attack)
  • Held Item: Shell Bell
  • Effort Values: 252 Attack, 252 Defense, 4 HP
  • Tera Type: Fighting
  • Moves: Swords Dance, Collision Course, Drain Punch, Breaking Swipe

The strategy with this build is to spend the first couple of turns Terastallizing and setting up with Swords Dance. If needed, you can use Drain Punch to steal HP from the AI-controlled NPCs present in Tera Raids if you do not use online multiplayer. Once completely set up, command your Koraidon to use Collision Course on Dark Feraligatr.

Not only is this move boosted by Terastallization, the same-type attack bonus, and Swords Dance, but the move also deals a bonus of 30% damage if the target is weak to it. Dark Feraligatr's Tera Typing makes it weak to the move, granting it the buff.
