How to solo Ghost Gengar 5-star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
From October 28 to 31, 2024, players can encounter special Gengar Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. To celebrate the Halloween season, these Gengar raids will yield tons of candy for players to level their Pokemon up. However, they can be challenging to grind if you want to use the online multiplayer feature.
Many players may instead opt to try the raid solo without the assistance of other player-controlled trainers. Thankfully, Gengar can easily be taken on in this fashion, since it is only a Five-Star Raid Boss. Here is everything to know if you intend on soloing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Gengar Raid Boss.
Best counters for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Halloween Gengar Tera Raid
Many Dark or Ghost-types can be great counters for this fight, especially when fully raised to Level 100 and trained with proper effort values and natures. One of the better options to use is Annihilape. Gengar can use Acid Spray, which will lower Annihilape's special defense, triggering its Defiant ability.
Not only does this interaction sharply raise Annihilape's attack stat, but it also doubles the power of the Dark-type move, Assurance. This can then be used to dish out incredible damage to Gengar, with even more being dealt if you decide to give your Annihilape the Dark Tera Typing.
Here is a great build to use:
- Tera Type: Dark
- Nature: Adamant
- Effort Values: 252 Attack, 252 HP, 4 Special Defense
- Ability: Defiant
- Held Item: Shell Bell
- Moves: Rage Fist, Drain Punch, Assurance, Screech
The Shell Bell and Drain Punch give Annihilape some amazing sustainability. Although Gengar cannot be hit with Drain Punch, you can use it on AI-controlled trainers for free healing, since they will not be too useful in the fight. The Shell Bell heals Annihilape for a small percentage of the damage it deals.
