Is Morpeko with Aura Wheel good in Pokemon GO PvP and PvE?

Morpeko with Aura Wheel will make its Pokemon GO debut during Halloween Part 1, as the creature itself has been added to the game. The Pokemon, with its signature move, will be available from October 22 - 28, 2024, when caught from Field and Timed Research Tasks as well as GBL rewards. While it will continue to be available even after the aforementioned dates, it won't know Aura Wheel when caught.

Morpeko with Aura Wheel presents fascinating new opportunities in Pokemon GO, thanks to its unique in-game mechanics. This article will break down whether it is good enough to use in PvP and PvE battles.

While Morpeko doesn't stand out as a meta pick in the Great League of GBL (the only format it is suitable in), it has interesting core-breaking potential.

In the 1-1 shield situation, with Morpeko's best moveset in Pokemon GO equipped, it beats 20 out of 40 meta picks, including Sableye, both forms of Feraligatr, Ariados, Malamar, Shadow Alolan Sandslash, Talonflame, Skeledirge, Mandibuzz, Dewgong, Toxapex, Shadow Machamp, Azumarill, and more.

Even in 2-2 shields, Morpeko wins 18 out of 40 meta matches, still beating most of the same creatures as before, but losing the Shadow Typhlosion, Shadow Machamp, and Shadow Drapion battles.

When shields are down on both sides, Morpeko has extremely polarising performances, as it either wins or loses very fast. While Aura Wheel deals a ton of damage, Morpeko itself cannot take much in return.

Therefore, if you are stuck in a 0-0 shield scenario with Morpeko, it is a 50-50 toss—if your opponent has something that Morpeko can KO with a single Aura Wheel, you win, if they don't you are more likely to lose.

Overall, Morpeko with Aura Wheel presents a strong option to consider in the Pokemon GO Battle League and it is worth looking for one with good IVs for the Great League.

Is Morpeko with Aura Wheel good in Pokemon GO Gyms and raids?

While Aura Wheel is a great move in itself, Morpeko being a relatively weak creature makes the combination of the two mediocre in Pokemon GO PvE battles. You can use Morpeko as a Gym attacker, thanks to its strong Attack stat, but it won't last long as a defender.

When it comes to Electric-type attackers, there are way too many strong Legendaries and Shadow Pokemon for Morpeko to even stand a chance—with or without Aura Wheel.

How does Morpeko with Aura Wheel work in Pokemon GO

In Pokemon GO PvP, Aura Wheel is an Electric- or Dark-type Charged Attack initially. It deals 120 base damage (including STAB) for 45 energy—making it a Wild Charge clone, in terms of damage and energy. However, instead of debuffing the user's Defense by two stages, it buffs its Attack by one stage.

Additionally, every time Aura Wheel is used, its type changes. So on odd numbers, Aura Wheel is Electric-type and on even numbers, it is Dark-type. The remaining stats remain the same.

In Pokemon GO PvE, Aura Wheel is an Electric-type Charged Attack that deals 100 base damage for 45 energy and has a 2.1s - 2.5s damage window. There are no additional effects here.
