Leaks uncover scrapped plans for full voice acting in Pokemon Legends Arceus
Game Freak leaks have uncovered tons of never-before-seen details about various Pokemon games and their development history. The latest focus has been on Legends Arceus and scrapped content that didn’t make it to its final release. One significant finding shows what could have been the start of full voice acting for the title.
Here is everything we know about this development in Legends Arceus' history, as well as some other details from the leaks in regards to the beloved game.
Recent Pokemon Legends Arceus leaks uncover hundreds of cut voice lines
Recently, over 300 unused voice lines made for Pokemon Legends Arceus were discovered in Game Freak leaks. As those who have played the game may be aware, the title features some light voice acting in the form of grunts that the player character makes when falling or throwing a Pokeball. However, these voice lines primarily include vocal expressions rather than words.
With so much progress already done on these voice lines, it is unclear why they were eventually scrapped.
Pokemon Legends Arceus has received a lot of its criticism for its lack of voice acting, which is an issue for a game where emphasis is put on the story. Even partial voice acting could have added more life to the game.
Since the 300 unused voice lines still exist, it is implied that Game Freak intended to include voice acting but ultimately couldn’t complete it in time. The uncovered voice lines may have been those that were already finished, but there were likely more to be done before the game was set to release.
With the completed set needing more time to be fully fleshed-out, they were likely all scrapped to avoid only certain characters receiving voices, making for a somewhat jarring narrative experience.

Other information about Pokemon Legends Arceus from the Game Freak leaks
Concept art for Pokemon Legends Arceus was also discovered from the Game Freak leaks. Interestingly, some of this art features Pocket Monsters that were not obtainable in the game, like Ivysaur.
Similarly to Legends ZA, a PC build of the game was also created for testing, according to the leaks.
Additionally, narrative details were leaked, showing that Legends Arceus is set 150 years before Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. The game aimed to appeal to core players rather than casual fans, marking a shift from the broader demographic approach of mainline Pokemon games.
