Beldum in Pokemon GO receives new Charged Attack with Dynamax release

Long-time players would know that Beldum in Pokemon GO was stuck with two of the worst attacks in the game—Take Down and Struggle—in its Fast Attack and Charged Attack slots, respectively. However, with the creature's debut in Dynamax raids on September 18, 2024, as part of the Psychic Spectacular event, it received the new Charged Attack Iron Head.

This was first reported by the data mining page "The Pokemod Group." They shared a screenshot of the game code on X, which said, "- cinematic_moves: [STRUGGLE]" and "+ cinematic_moves: [IRON_HEAD].

Dynamax Beldum in Pokemon GO can use Iron Head

Dynamax Beldum will appear in 3-star Max Battles starting from September 18, 2024. If it had only Struggle as its Charged Attack in these raids, the challenge would be too simple as the raid boss would not be inflicting much damage whatsoever. Therefore, Niantic has added Iron Head to its moveset to make the battles more of an uphill struggle.

Beldum still only has Take Down as its Fast Attack, which is not strong. However, with Iron Head in its kitty, you can expect your attackers to take some damage when facing this raid boss.

What does the addition of Iron Head mean for Beldum in Pokemon GO?

Iron Head is a two-bar Steel-type Charged Attack in Pokemon GO. In PvE battles, it deals 60 damage for 50 energy and has a 1.9-second animation duration. In trainer battles, It deals 70 damage for 50 energy.

While Beldum in Pokemon GO caught by trainers do not benefit much from the addition of Iron Head to its moveset, those on the other side—including in raids, Gyms, and so on—will now have a much better answer for opponents.

Will Beldum caught before September 18, 2024, learn Iron Head?

You can use a regular Charged TM to teach Beldum caught before September 18, 2024, Iron Head. Note that Struggle is a move that cannot be re-learned; not that players have any need for it, except for collection purposes.
