Pokemon GO Raid Battle Charged Attacks tweaked after players complain

Pokemon GO Raid Battle Charged Attacks of the Raid Bosses have finally been tweaked. Players have been repeatedly reporting instances of Raid Bosses spamming their Charged Attacks, especially in the past week. The issue has negatively impacted the in-game raid experience and some have stated that the Charged Moves seem more like Fast Attacks.

Thus, it is no surprise that Niantic had to quickly respond to the matter and make some necessary changes to the Raid Battle gameplay.

Niantic reduces Pokemon GO Raid Bosses' Charged Attack release rate

Niantic posted the following announcement on September 12, 2024, on @NianticHelp on X:

"Trainers, in response to increased difficulty of Raid Battles we have reduced the rate at which Raid Bosses release charged attacks. Note that there may be more changes later in order to balance the difficulty of Raid Battles."

The issue was shared on the Pokemon GO subreddit in September 2024, with players complaining that Kyogre was using its Charged Moved too quickly. One Redditor explained that the Raid Boss was reportedly getting 2500% more energy upon taking damage (a change of 0.02 to 0.5 in the game code) after the recent tweaks.

For context, @NianticHelp had reported on September 6, 2024, that Raid Battle improvements were implemented to "increase stability" and "reduce latency." The post also noted that the changes could affect a few Pokemon's move timings. The developers assured trainers that they would listen to feedback and make adjustments accordingly. It's relieving to see that they've done it promptly.

While it's been less than two weeks since the Season of Max Out began, Niantic has already faced a couple of issues. The To The Max Special Research faced an error where the progress of trainers was reset. Later, the Falinks Raid Day ticket holders were left without the event bonus for the entire scheduled duration.

The community has also been upset with the Dynamax mechanic, the Gen VIII battle gimmick that debuted in the latest Pokemon GO season. It remains to be seen whether the developers address the issues raised.
