Pokemon GO Galarian Rapidash: Best moveset, counters, and is it any good?

Galarian Rapidash joined Pokemon GO in October 2020 as part of the Crown Tundra event. It is the sole and final evolution of Galarian Ponyta and is a Fairy/Psychic-type species, but what are its best movesets and counters, and is it any good in PvP and PvE battles? Sadly, Galarian Rapidash doesn't measure up well in PvE, but it does have some niche applications in PvP at least.

Regardless of its applications, it doesn't hurt to know the best movesets and counters for Galarian Rapidash in Pokemon GO. We'll also go over things like its weaknesses, base stats, and why exactly it does okay in PvP but falls short in PvE.

In both PvE and PvP in Pokemon GO, Galarian Rapidash benefits from diversifying its move types in its moveset. However, its PvE and PvP movesets differ all the same, as the PvP one in particular picks up a second Charged Attack to improve its ability to counter a more diverse range of opponents.

Regardless, Galarian Rapidash's best movesets can be found below:

  • Fast Move: Psycho Cut
  • Charged Move: Play Rough

  • Charged Moves: Play Rough and Wild Charge

Is Galarian Rapidash good in Pokemon GO PvP and PvE?

Galarian Rapidash in PvE

Put plainly, while it does have a decent base Attack stat of 207, Galarian Rapidash simply lacks the firepower to compete at the highest levels of PvE-like raids. It may serve a simple purpose as a gym attacker or defender, but other Fairy and Psychic-types like Gardevoir are better suited for high-end PvE combat.

Galarian Rapidash in PvP

Despite having poor durability overall, Galarian Rapidash's Fairy/Psychic type combination does lend itself somewhat to Great and Ultra League PvP. Access to Fairy Wind and Play Rough gives it some counter capability against beloved Dragon-types, and Wild Charge can catch opponents like Kingdra, Swanna, and Empoleon by surprise.
