weaknesses
What is super-effective against Gigantamax Gengar?
Gigantamax Gengar is a Ghost- and Poison-type Pocket Monster that takes super-effective damage from Ghost-, Dark-, Ground-, and Psychic-type attacks. You should deploy creatures that know both Fast and Charged Attacks of these types to take it down. The best counters are those that resist its attacks as well.
When building your team, you should prioritize creatures who know Ghost-, Dark-, Ground-, and Psychic-type Fast Attacks as these will turn into Max Moves that will deal the biggest chunk of damage. Given the difficulty of Gigantamax Max Battles, make sure that you have designated tanks, healers, and attackers.

- Max Phantasm
- Max Darkness
- Max Quake
- Max Mindstorm
Do Note that none of the Dynamax 'mons available right now can use STAB Max Darkness or Max Quake.

Best strategy to defeat 6-star Pokemon GO Gigantamax Gengar Max Battles
The best way to defeat Pokemon GO Gigantamax Gengar Max Battles is as follows:
- Lead with Dynamax Greedent, preferably one that has Level 3 Max Spirit. It takes heavily resisted damage from Gengar's Ghost-type attacks and is extremely tanky. It also deals super-effective damage with Dark-type attacks. Use this to charge your Dynamax Energy meter.
- Dodge incoming Charged Attacks and collect Energy globules as they pop up to charge the meter fast.
- Once you are ready to Dynamax, bring out Metagross or Gengar and fire off two Max Mindstorms/Phantasms and one Max Spirit to heal Greedent. Continue to stay in with this Pokemon until you reach the yellow health level.
- Then, bring back Greedent, charge up the Dynamax Bar, and use 2 - 3 turns of Max Spirit to heal your attackers.
- Repeat this cycle until you take down Gigantamax Gengar.
