Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes preparation guide
The Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes event will take place from September 26, 2024, at 10:00 am local time to October 1, 2024, at 8:00 pm. During this time, some of the Galar region's best and brightest Pocket Monsters will be appearing throughout Niantic's mobile game. You'll want to be prepared to ensure you don't miss out on some of the best critters at the event.
With that in mind, it doesn't hurt to examine what Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes provides and which Pocket Monsters should be prioritized before its conclusion. It's also worth examining some tips and recommendations to ensure that when the event kicks off, you'll be ready.
All bonuses during Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes
The Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes event will only have two active bonuses, but they're worth keeping in mind due to their benefits. First off, all Special Trades will require 50% less Stardust to complete, which should be huge if there's a Legendary/Mythical Pokemon, Ultra Beast, shiny variant, purified, or new critter that you're hoping to collect.
Legendary Heroes' second bonus is a particularly interesting one. Normally, Koffing can only evolve into Weezing during ordinary gameplay. However, during Legendary Heroes, you'll be able to evolve Koffing into Galarian Weezing. This opportunity is certainly worth seizing.

The Sword and Shield Timed Research Paths and Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes Field Research
In Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes, you'll gain access to a new Timed Research questline where you must choose between taking either the Sword path or Shield path. Depending on your choice, you'll experience different boosted incense spawns and receive varying objectives and rewards for the event's Collection Challenge, which also provides XP and Stardust.
Depending on your choice of path, you'll encounter the following wild Pokemon when using Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense), all of which can appear in their shiny forms if you're lucky:
- Sword Path - Seedot, Scraggy, Gothita, Deino, Swirlix, Passimian
- Shield Path - Larvitar, Lotad, Croagunk, Solosis, Spritzee, Oranguru
Regardless of the chosen path, you can undertake and complete new Field Research Tasks that reward you with Rare Candies, Stardust, and encounters with Galarian Slowpoke.
Raid boss lineup for Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes
The following Pokemon will appear in raids of various difficulty tiers throughout the duration of the Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes event. Any of the Pocket Monsters listed below can be encountered in their shiny variant at the end of the raid battle if you're lucky:
- One-Star Raids - Galarian Ponyta, Galarian Darumaka, Goomy, Jangmo-o
- Three-Star Raids - Turtonator, Drampa
- Five-Star Raids - Zacian
- Mega Raids - Mega Gardevoir
Shiny Zacian makes its Pokemon GO debut
Shiny Zacian will be making its debut during the Legendary Heroes event. While Shiny Zacian will be obtainable from various methods after Legendary Heroes begins and concludes, you have a good chance of encountering it by undertaking and beating the event's 5-star raids.
Unless otherwise boosted by Niantic during the Legendary Heroes event, there should be a one in 20 chance that Zacian appears in its shiny form after beating its 5-star raid.

Preparation tips for Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes
Aside from the usual recommendations of stockpiling Poke Balls, healing items like Potions/Revives, Lure Modules, and Incense, it's suggested that you should either catch or trade for a few high-IV Koffing ahead of the event. This way, they can be evolved into Galarian Weezing, and you can keep a few of your own for PvE, PvP, or trading in case you need them.
Additionally, because Special Trades during the event are discounted, you're recommended to rack up as much Stardust as possible if you plan on doing a significant amount of trading.
Moreover, for the optimal chance at finding Shiny Zacian in raids, you're encouraged to purchase or collect as many raid passes as you can carry. Finding some trainers to raid alongside will also be a boon.
Pokemon and shinies to prioritize during Pokemon GO Legendary Heroes
While you're free to pursue any themed Pokemon during the Legendary Heroes event, there are certain Pocket Monsters that will serve you well in PvP or PvE (or both), typically once evolved into their final evolutions. Moreover, several shinies that don't come around very often during ordinary gameplay are worth prioritizing if you're a shiny collector.
If you're hoping to make the most of your time as a PvE/PvP battler or shiny collector in Legendary Heroes, these Pocket Monsters should be sought out first and foremost:
PvE Pokemon worth prioritizing
- Larvitar
- Galarian Darumaka
- Zacian
- Scorbunny
- Sobble
- Grookey
- Gardevoir
PvP Pokemon worth prioritizing
