Pokemon GO's upcoming Magnetic Study event is set to begin on October 15, 2024. This event focuses on particular Electric-type Pokemon that fit the theme of magnetism. The three main focuses for this event will be Plusle, Minun, and Magnemite. It will also feature different bonuses on each day of the event.

Benefits of Pokemon GO's Magnetic Study event
The biggest bonus that most players will care about is the increased chance of encountering Plusle, Minun, and Magnemite in their shiny variants. The critters will also have an increased chance of appearing through Magnetic Lure Modules. One of these items can be acquired by completing the timed research that will be available on October 16, 2024.

- 2× XP for catching Pokémon
October 16, 2024
- 50% more XP from Raid Battles
October 17, 2024
- 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon
Different timed researches will also be available on each day, rewarding players with 5,000 XP and 2,500 Stardust on October 15 and 17, and a Magnetic Lure on October 16. Encounters with Plusle, Magnemite, and Minun will also be rewarded through timed research during the event.

How to best prepare for Pokemon GO's Magnetic Study event
Since Magnetic Study focuses on catching wild Pokemon, players should stockpile Poke Balls to prepare for this event. These are some of the most common items in the game, being available through many means. Most commonly, these items can be obtained for free by spinning Pokestops.
While Minun, Plusle, and Magnemite will be common spawns during the event, players can further increase the chances of coming across one by playing Pokemon GO in rainy weather. Thanks to the game's weather boost mechanic, Electric-type Pokemon found in the wild are more common and stronger if the player is experiencing rain in their area.
Magnemite is one of the few Pokemon that require a Magnetic Lure to be present in order to evolve. With this in mind, players may want to save the Magnetic Lure they receive from timed research for when they are ready to fully evolve their Magnemite, which takes 125 Magnemite candies.
Since Magnemite, Plusle, and Minun have increased shiny odds during the event, many players may want to consider stocking up on Incenses or standard Lure Modules to ensure a higher encounter rate. These items can be purchased at the shop in exchange for Pokecoins, or can be found for free from leveling up the player's profile.
