Pokemon GO player shares trick to evolve Charcadet fast

Charcadet is one of the newest Pocket Monsters in Pokemon GO as well as the entire franchise. Debuting in the main series' ninth generation, it is among the most popular creatures in the Paldea region, thanks to its two distinct evolutions. However, obtaining these versions requires Charcadet to defeat either Ghost- or Psychic-type Pokemon.

User dark_tyranitar on the Silph Road subreddit has found a way to make the most of the ongoing Galarian Expedition Taken Over event by using Team GO Rocket Grunts to accelerate the progress of evolving Charcadet (provided you already have the required number of candies). Their strategy only requires a little bit of luck but works wonders for evolving the creature.

Reminder: Use Grunts to Evolve Charcadet

To execute it, you will only need to find a Team GO Rocket Grunt that uses either Ghost- or Psychic-type Pokemon. You require a Ghost-type Grunt if you want Ceruledge, a Fire- and Ghost-type creature. On the other hand, you need to find a Psychic-type Grunt if you want Armarouge, a Fire- and Psychic-type critter.

Once you find your Grunt of choice, you need to register Charcadet as your Buddy Pokemon and use it to defeat the first two Pokemon the Grunt uses. You must then forfeit the fight and repeat the process. After doing this 15 times and having the required 50 candies, Charcadet will be able to evolve into the form you want.

User deepfocusmachine pointed out an easier and faster strategy that players can use if they have a friend to play Pokemon GO with. In this strategy, trainers must get their friends to battle them using weak creatures matching the type requirements of the Charcadet evolution they want.

However, some players prefer the original poster's method, as not many trainers have access to a friend who can help them out with this.

User legitcopp3rmerchant pointed out that either method can be employed for other creatures that require defeating a certain amount of Pokemon. This individual stated that the Team GO Rocket method was what they used to evolve their Primeape into Annihilape.

Why are Armarouge and Ceruledge bad in Pokemon GO?

Despite the effort that goes into obtaining Armarouge and Ceruledge, they do not perform well in the Battle League. There is also not much reason to use them in Raid Battles.

Armarouge's typing ends up being its biggest flaw as it is weak to the many Ghost-, Dark-, and Ground-type creatures that populate opposing teams.

Ceruledge, on the other hand, suffers from a lackluster moveset. And while Incinerate allows the creature to generate bursts of energy, it is considerably slow, which greatly cuts down on its damage output potential.

If Shadow Claw were to be added to Ceruledge's moveset, it would fare much better. The Pocket Monster also lacks substantial bulk, which is dangerous for a creature without a decent fast attack.
