Boosted Pokemon spawns during Pokemon GO's Ponyta Community Day
During the Pokemon GO Ponyta Community Day, as the name implies, both Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta will be appearing much more often in the wild. They be found elsewhere including the 4-star raids mentioned above and via Field Research Tasks, which can be completed during the event for extra Ponyta/Galarian Ponyta encounters as well as rewards like Stardust and Great Balls.
It should also be noted that both Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta can appear in their shiny variants, so this event is an excellent opportunity to collect these shiny Ponyta.
Featured Charged Moves for Pokemon GO's Ponyta Community Day
Throughout the course of the Pokemon GO Ponyta Community Day, trainers who evolve their Ponyta/Galarian Ponyta into Rapidash/Galarian Rapidash will notice that their Rapidash has already learned the Charged Move Wild Charge. This Electric-type move deals 100 damage in PvP and 90 damage in PvE.
Because this attack is an Electric-type one, it's an excellent way to counter Water-type opponents that give standard Rapidash a difficult time, though the move isn't quite as useful for Galarian Rapidash.
Pokemon GO Ponyta Community Day Special Research
In addition to the other goodies this event brings, trainers can purchase a ticket for themselves or a friend for $1 USD (or equivalent) to gain access to the Ponyta Community Day Special Research story. While the specifics of the research are unclear, it should feature heavily on Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta while providing tons of Ponyta-related rewards like candy as well as other items and resources.
Recommended tips to prepare for the Pokemon GO Ponyta Community Day
All in all, preparation for this Community Day comes down to stockpiling and catching necessities including Poke Balls, berries of various types (particularly Pinap Berries), Incense, and standard Lure Modules. Lucky Eggs and Star Pieces can also be fantastic assets to help players level up and accrue tons of Stardust since these items can stack their XP/Stardust games with those of the event.
Moreover, it's advised to catch and power up a few Water, Rock, and Ground-type Pokemon to raid and counter Ponyta's 4-star raids. Meanwhile, the same can be said for Galarian Ponyta 4-star raids and raising up Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type Pokemon to serve as effective counters.
