Pokemon GO Toxtricity: Best moveset, counters, and is it any good?
Toxtricity is one of the hot topics among Pokemon GO's community at the moment as it will soon be added to the game. One of the most popular creatures to debut in the Galar region, Toxtricity's addition to the mobile title has been a long time coming for fans. However, many players have their sights set on the creature's performance in battle.
Being an Electric- and Poison-type Pocket Monster, the offensive potential for Toxtricity is quite high, but its defenses and this type combination may harm it more than help it.
Everything to know about Toxtricity in Pokemon GO
Toxtricity has two different forms, Amped and Low-Key. In the main series, what form Toxtricity has is determined by its nature as a Toxel. These forms also have different movesets in the mainline titles. However, this is not the case in Pokemon GO as both forms are identical outside of appearances.
Here are Toxtricity's stats and the potential moves it can learn:
- Type: Electric/Poison
- Attack: 224
- Defense: 140
- Stamina: 181
- Fast Attacks: Poison Jab, Acid, Spark
- Charged Attacks: Acid Spray, Wild Charge, Discharge, Power-up Punch
Looking at this stat spread, Toxtricity seems to be a great glass cannon and may become a high-tier choice for raid battling. However, its defenses leave it incredibly frail, and its quad-weakness to Ground-type attacks makes it incredibly easy for prepared trainers to burst down before it can snowball a game.
Nevertheless, Toxtricity can deal some impressive damage with the right moveset. While it is hard to say before the creature releases, its best moveset will likely involve Poison Jab as its Fast Attack and Wild Charge as its Charged Attack. For its secondary Charged Attack, Power-Up Punch will be the best choice as it counters Steel-type critters and grants an attack boost.

Best ways to counter Toxtricity in Pokemon GO
As stated previously, Toxtricity's type combination of Poison and Electric greatly increases the amount of damage it takes from Ground-type attacks as both elements the creature has are weak to Ground moves. This is why Dynamax Drilbur is being released close to the Wild Area event: so trainers have an optimal counter for taking down Toxtricity Raid Bosses.
Given Toxtricity's combat power cap, it will be able to participate in both the Great and Ultra Leagues. However, the many Ground- and Steel-type creatures that run these leagues will keep it far away from the top of meta tier lists.
With it being countered and walled completely by Clodsire, Toxtricity stands no chance in the Great League. Gastrodon, Zygarde, and Registeel will also keep it from settling comfortably in the Ultra League.

Will Toxtricity be good in Pokemon GO?
While it cannot definitively be said whether or not Toxtricity will be good at the time of writing, it is not likely. Defense is the king when it comes to Pokemon GO's battling scene. With the game having a real-time battle system comprised of light and heavy attacks, Pocket Monsters are constantly taking damage, making defensive creatures preferred over offensive ones.
However, when it debuts, Toxtricity will be one of the best Gigantamax and Dynamax creatures available.
Thanks to its high attack and interesting type combination, Toxtricity can be used for Max Battles where either Electric or Poison attacks will be more beneficial. These elements offer decent offensive coverage, making the creature still worth picking up.
