Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Rock Infernape 7-star Tera Raid guide: Counters, weaknesses, and more
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's latest 7-star Tera Raid boss debuted in the form of a Rock Tera Type Infernape. Players can battle this boss starting on October 3, 2024, at 5:00 PM PDT, until October 6, 2024, at 4:59 PM PDT. Mighty Infernape will then return on October 10, 2024, at 5:00 PM PDT, and will be available until October 13, 2024, at 4:59 PM PDT.
With that in mind, it doesn't hurt to examine the best weaknesses and counters to take down this new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet raid boss. All things considered, beating this 7-star Tera Raid boss should be pretty simple, and you can then focus on repeatedly beating Mighty Infernape to farm its rewards.
Rock Infernape's strengths and weaknesses in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7-star raids
- Tera Type: Rock
- Ability: Iron Fist
- IVs: 31 IVs in all stats
- Usable Moves: Flare Blitz, Aura Sphere, Tera Blast, Grass Knot, Nasty Plot, Swords Dance, Focus Energy
As a Rock Tera Type in this Pokemon Scarlet and Violet raid, Infernape won't have all of its usual weaknesses. Instead, it will be weak to Fighting, Grass, Ground, Steel, and Water-type attacks/Pokemon. Meanwhile, it will resist Fire, Flying, Normal, and Poison-type attacks, so these are best avoided.
Best counters to Rock Infernape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet raids
Multiple Pokemon loadouts have proven to be quite effective when taking on Rock Infernape in 7-star Tera Raids, but if you're having trouble, the following builds should be more than enough to contribute to beating this raid boss in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Keep in mind though, that these builds are insistent upon the Pokemon having maximized IV stats.
How to beat Rock Infernape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet raids
Having chosen one of the builds above, you can follow these strategies to bring down Rock Tera Type Infernape in its 7-star Tera Raids:
- Kommo-o - Bulletproof ensures Kommo-o is immune to Aura Sphere. Utilize Iron Defense to boost Kommo-o's Defense stat, then use Body Press to deal massive damage since the attack scales off of the Defense stat. Screech is used to debuff Infernape's Defense, and Rain Dance will diminish the strength of Infernape's Flare Blitz. Shell Bell is used to keep Kommo-o healed in battle.
- Annihilape - Annihilape is immune to Aura Sphere as a Fighting/Ghost-type. Set up by using Screech a few times to lower Infernape's Defense stat, then spam Drain Punch, which will deal fantastic damage that increases over time thanks to Metronome. Drain Punch will also ensure that Annihilape will stay healed throughout the raid.
- Zamazenta - Operates almost exactly like the Kommo-o Body Press/Iron Defense strategy but Zamazenta isn't immune to Aura Sphere. This is where Light Screen comes in to protect Zamazenta from it. Rain Dance weakens Flare Blitz, and the Iron Defense and Body Press combo remains the core damage dealer.
With these strategies, you should be able to beat this raid boss without too much trouble. From there, it's just a matter of collecting the rewards and deciding if you'd like to battle Mighty Infernape again to get even more goodies like Herba Mystica for your sandwiches.
