Pokemon TCG Pocket: Best Moltres ex deck guide

Pokemon TCG Pocket has been available for a little over a week as of writing, and players across the globe are already experimenting with the few viable cards in the game to find optimal deck builds. One strategy incentivized by the game itself is to build a deck around one particular element of Pokemon.

One of the more popular elements in the game is Fire, housing popular creatures like Charizard, Arcanine, and most notably, Moltres ex. This particular card is a vital resource in Fire decks, offering rapid energy generation with enough luck.

Here is everything to know about Moltres ex, as well as how players can make the most use out of it in their decks.

Moltres ex is arguably the best supporting card in Pokemon TCG at the moment. This is thanks to the card having access to Inferno Dance, a move with the potential to generate an additional 3 Fire energies to put on Fire-type Pocket Monsters on the user's bench.

The best part about Inferno Dance is that Moltres ex only requires one Fire energy to use it. This means the Pocket Monster can begin stacking Fire energies in the second turn of battle. This is especially important if players want to use high-cost attackers like Centiskorch or Charizard ex.

What cards should be used in a Moltres ex deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket?

Here is a good blueprint players should consider when building a deck that uses Moltres ex:

CARDQUANTITY
Heatmor1x
Professor's Research2x
Poke Ball2x
Red Card1x
Potion2x
Sabrina2x
Eevee1x
Flareon1x
Sizzlipede1x
Centiskorch1x
Charmander1x
Charmeleon 1x
Charizard ex1x
Moltres ex2x

This deck offers a decent variety of attacking Fire-type options, as well as some great tools and supporters to help players turn the battle in their favor. It should be noted that the game is still early into its release, so the number of cards players have access to is relatively small.

With this in mind, it is entirely possible that a new way to set up a Moltres ex deck could arise once another expansion of cards comes to the title. However, it is unclear when players can expect a new expansion to be released. It is likely that they will not see one until early 2025.

To make the most use of Moltres ex in Pokemon TCG Pocket, players will need to get it onto the field as early as possible. The best way to do this is to fill the deck with support. Two copies of Moltres are used to double the odds of drawing one, as well as two Poke Balls and Professor's research.

Players will need to get Moltres out on the field preferably by the first or second turn in order to quickly begin generating energy for stronger allies. Since Moltres generates more than enough energy on its own, players can focus their early energies on Moltres ex to allow for Inferno Dance to be used and set up for its eventual retreat when its allies are ready to fight.
