- End Date: Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM local time.
As part of this year’s Halloween festivities, Pokemon GO will introduce Dynamax Gastly in one-star raids, making it a straightforward target for solo players. This marks a thrilling new way for players to experience a fan-favorite Ghost-type Pokemon, as Gastly takes on its Dynamax form before evolving into the ever-popular Gengar.

Pokemon GO Halloween 2024 - Part I: Catching Dynamax Gastly
During the event, you will be able to find Dynamax Gastly in one-star raids, so it will be one of the easiest Dynamax Pokemon to defeat and catch.
While Gastly has appeared in previous events, this is the first time it is available in its Dynamax form, which makes the raid battles both visually exciting and a great opportunity to collect a powerful version of the Pokemon.
Not only is the Dynamax version of Gastly a rare find but there is also the bonus of a Shiny Gastly potentially appearing. For shiny hunters, this will be a chance to catch the shiny form and evolve it into a striking shiny Gengar.
Here is how to prepare for catching Dynamax Gastly:
- Solo-friendly: As it is a one-star raid, you won’t need a full group to take on Dynamax Gastly. A well-prepared Trainer should be able to solo the raid.
- Shiny Potential: Gastly can appear in its shiny form, so keep an eye out for that special color variant. If you are lucky enough to catch one, evolving it into a shiny Dynamax Gengar would be an excellent prize to get from this event.
- Bonuses: With event bonuses like 2x candy for catching Pokemon and an increased chance for XL candy for players Level 31 and above, you will quickly gather the resources to evolve Gastly into Gengar.

Pokemon GO Halloween 2024 - Part I: Evolving Dynamax Gastly into Gengar
Once you have caught your Dynamax Gastly, the next step is evolving it into a Gengar. As one of the most beloved Ghost-type Pokemon, Gengar is known for its high attack power and versatility in battle, making it a valuable asset for raids, PvP battles, and more.
To evolve Gastly into Gengar, you will need 25 Gastly Candy to evolve it into Haunter, and then another 100 Gastly Candy to evolve Haunter into Gengar. With the boosted candy rewards from the event, collecting enough candy should be a breeze. Those who prefer to trade can evolve Haunter into Gengar for free by trading it with a friend.
If you're lucky, you may even catch a Shiny Dynamax Gastly, which can be evolved into a shiny Gengar, one of the most sought-after shiny Pokemon in the game.
