Why are Dark-type Rocket Grunts reportedly annoying? Pokemon GO player lists the reasons

Pokemon GO's ongoing Galarian Expedition Taken Over event has exposed the majority of the playerbase to encounters with Team GO Rocket and its members. What sets these Grunts apart from their main series counterparts is their mastery over creatures of a single element.

This has sparked discussion online about which of the current Team GO Rocket Grunts are the most annoying to get rid of. Redditor Foulmouth232 has explained why the Grunts using Dark-type Pokemon are the most annoying of the bunch for them.

To summarize the post, Foulmouth232 claims that Dark-type Grunts are the most difficult to deal with because they have an abundance of creatures with great defensive typings, which cover most of the Dark element's weaknesses. The user names picks like Alolan Muk, Skuntank, and Cacnea as the greatest offenders.

Some players have expressed that it is easy to take care of such Grunts, stating that most creatures used by Team GO Rocket members can be easily overpowered by a stronger Pocket Monster.

In particular, Groudon is an easy answer to all of the creatures specifically called out in this post, with Cacnea being easily taken care of with Groudon's Fire Punch or Fire Blast.

Standard Grunts also do not use shields, leaving them vulnerable to high-energy charged attacks that deal massive amounts of burst damage.

Another important detail to consider is pointed out by user stickyplants. According to them, players can build a team of three different Pokemon to challenge these Team GO Rocket Grunts. With three slots, trainers can use Pocket Monsters sporting different elements of attacks to cover any creature the Grunt may use.

While difficulty is subjective, as every player has access to different Pokemon, most sentiments on the Reddit post seem to claim that this is a textbook example of a skill issue.

The Dark-type Grunt in the current Team GO Rocket line-up in Pokemon GO only has five creatures. Here is every Pocket Monster this Grunt can use:

  • Cacnea
  • Alolan Rattata
  • Alolan Raticate
  • Alolan Muk
  • Skuntank

Alolan Muk and Skuntank can be taken care of with Ground-type attacks, while the remaining roster can be taken care of with Fighting-type attacks.

With this in mind, players can use a team of the following creatures to make this fight as easy as possible:

  • Lucario with Force Palm and Power-up Punch
  • Groudon with Mud Shot and Fire Blast
  • Sylveon with Charm and Moonblast

The counters listed above are some of the best ones that most active players have access to.
