Why Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players should be excited for December 2024
Although we are inching closer to the end of 2024, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet remain the latest mainline titles available to trainers. There have been no new games added to the series this year, with Legends Z-A scheduled to be released sometime in 2025 and Gen 10 yet to be announced. A Reddit post even noted that this is the first time in a decade that there's no mainline release in November.
So what will Pokemon players do during the holiday festive season as the year ends? Well for one they can jump into the latest mobile sensation Pokemon TCG Pocket and tackle its meta, expansions, and more. As for Scarlet and Violet players, there's something quite special in store.
Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raids are coming to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in late December 2024
Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raids will run from December 20, 2024, to January 6, 2025, globally in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. An official leaflet revealed the same while discussing a Mythical Pokemon Get Campaign distribution event in Japan that's due to take place between November 22, 2024, and April 30, 2025.
While getting to encounter and catch a Rayquaza is an excellent opportunity in itself given its battle prowess, what makes it further exciting is the fact that it will be a shiny variant.
As Pokemon fans will concur, a Shiny Legendary encounter is not the easiest to come by and Tera Raid events have largely been shiny-locked. The current consensus is that the Shiny Rayquaza event ties into the Pokemon Horizons anime, where one plays a major role.
While there are no further details confirmed for the event, known Pokemon leaker Riddler Khu mentioned that it will be a 5-star Tera Raid event. Given that the 7-star Tera Raid is the highest difficulty in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it will be interesting if Shiny Rayquaza appears in a 5-star one. As always, leaked information is better taken with a grain of salt.
For now, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers can look forward to the second phase of the Ground Torterra 7-star Tera Raid Battle event due to start later this week.
