“Almost as if he doesn’t actually care about women” — Netizens react to Megyn Kelly calling Trump’s MSG rally ‘bro-tastic’ despite voting for him
Megyn Kelly criticized Donald Trump's controversial MSG rally, and the internet had much to say. During a Tuesday, October 29 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News host addressed criticisms that called the aforementioned rally a "Nazi rally," saying it was "nonsense." However, she stated that even for her, who voted for Trump, the rally was "too bro-tastic."
Megyn Kelly asked if Trump's team had no women advising their campaign, and although she wasn't offended, Kelly understood how it played with women voters and called it an "f’d-up choice." Kelly's comments come after Kill Tony host Tony Hinchcliffe made a series of offensive jokes during the aforementioned rally, including calling Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage."
Social media users weighed in on Megyn Kelly's criticisms by claiming that Donald Trump never cared about women anyway. One X user tweeted:
"almost as if he doesn’t actually care about women Megyn!"
Similar reactions followed as social media users claimed the MSG rally might take a toll on women voters. Some felt Megyn was trying to help Trump hide "who he really is." Here are a few X reactions to Megyn's comments:
"She’s so right. Suburban women have been undecided and up for grabs after an entire decade of Trump, but one comic’s joke one week before Election Day might seal their fate", said one X user.
"Basically Megyn Kelly is begging Trump to hide who he really is and bring women in to sane-wash his crazy.", thought another user.
"Megyn is right about this. There’s no need for bad comedians that give the left ammo.", added another netizen.
However, several other users claimed that Megyn was trying to tone police and criticized the political commentator by calling her a "clout chaser."
"TONE POLICE, PULLOVER!", exclaimed one X user.
"Jesus Christ, we're tone policing on the right now too?", asked a second user.
"One day people will notice how much of a clout chaser this women is", thought another user.
"This is ridiculous. Other topics would make far better points. I’m a woman. I was not “alienated”. What is wrong with you?", asked yet another user.
"Do they have no women advising their campaign?" Megyn Kelly on Donald Trump's MSG rally
The 929th episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, which premiered on October 29, saw host Megyn Kelly criticize Donald Trump's team for his controversial MSG rally on Sunday, October 27. Kelly, who saw the former American President's remarks from start to finish, claimed he did a "great job."
However, the talk show host felt that Donald Trump was "not well-served" by the people around him. As mentioned above, she discredited the criticism that the rally was a "Nazi rally" by calling it "nonsense." However, Kelly stated:
"Even for me, and I voted for Donald Trump last week, it was too bro-tastic. Okay? It was. You’re trying to win an election in which you’re hemorrhaging female voters."
Kelly wanted Trump's team to "clean up the bro talk just a little," especially while talking in front of thousands at the MSG, so they don't end up alienating women who were already "on the fence" about Republicans. She further asked:
"Do they have no women advising their campaign? Is there no actual woman sitting behind the scenes coming up with a guest line-up and saying, “Let’s just have a word with the guys who are going to be speaking about [how] this isn’t the bar, this isn’t their living room, this is a campaign. This is politics?”"
Kelly stated that they were trying to get Trump elected and were not required to rally "the base or guys" anymore and added that it was not helpful to make off-color insults on racial groups, even if they did want to do so.
Kelly conceded that nothing said in the rally offended her as she was "unoffendable." However, she still called the remarks at the rally an "f’d-up choice" as she understood how it played with women. Kelly claimed that the comments completely turned an "amazing celebration of Trump" into an event where the former president's campaign gave themselves a "big black eye."
