Did Donald Trump nominate Amber Rose for Secretary of Education? Viral tweet explored
A rumor recently surfaced online that Donald Trump nominated model and TV personality Amber Rose for Secretary of Education. The claim was first shared by YouTuber and journalist Keith Edwards on X on November 13.
The post featured a picture of Amber Rose alongside a “Statement from President Donald J Trump.” It was captioned:
“BREAKING: Donald Trump has nominated Amber Rose for Secretary of Education.”
The tweet garnered severe traction online and in less than 24 hours earned 616.400 views.
However, the claim has turned out to be false. Donald Trump has made no such announcement regarding Amber Rose, and nobody has been named as the Secretary of Education, yet.
Previously, Amber Rose spoke during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July 2024 and showed her support for the President-elect. On November 4, the even of the election day, she also revealed on X how she placed a hefty bet of $15,000 on Donald Trump winning the race to the White House.
Donald Trump has not nominated Amber Rose for Secretary of Education
On Wednesday, a social media post surfaced claiming Donald Trump has nominated Amber Rose for Secretary of Education. Liberal influencer @keithedwards posted an alleged statement from the President-elect which read:
“I am honored to announce that I have nominated Amber Rose to serve in my Cabinet as the Secretary of Education. Amber has spent her entire life advocating for the empowerment of individuals through self-confidence, education, and resilience.”
It further continued:
“Amber has fought tirelessly to give a voice to the voiceless, and as Secretary of Education, she will lead with courage, compassion, and a commitment to the future of America’s students.”
Elsewhere, the statement called Amber Rose a “true believer in American values” who would put students “first” and “reform” the education system. She was also called a “graduate of the School of Hard Knocks” who would bring a “fresh perspective to the Department of Education.” The Loveline host was also called a champion of an “inclusive future” and the philosophy of “Empowerment through Education.”
While the statement shared by Keith Edwards fits the pattern of the other announcements by Trump, it has turned out to be fabricated seemingly for the purpose of satire/ parody. The President-elect has not nominated Amber Rose for Secretary of Education.
At a Pennsylvania rally in late September, Trump pledged to close the Department of Education and transfer control to the states. He mentioned Lee Zeldin or Vivek Ramaswamy as potential candidates for Secretary of Education if re-elected. Former Secretary Betsy DeVos, who served from 2017 to 2021, also recently expressed interest in returning to the role in an interview with Education Week.
According to Education Week’s sources inside the GOP, Louisiana state superintendent Cade Brumley, Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice, and Oklahoma state superintendent Ryan Walters were also in the running for Education Secretary. Others who could be up for the role include Bobby Jindal, Doug Ducey, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Glenn Youngkin, Ellen Weaver, Manny Diaz Jr., and Byron Donalds.
However, Donald Trump’s rally choices Vivek Ramaswamy and Lee Zeldin might be ruled out considering they have already been appointed in other roles. While the former has been named as the co-lead of the Department of Government Efficiency alongside tech mogul Elon Musk, the latter has been named as EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Administrator.
