From stranded attendees to 3rd assassination attempt: Everything to know about Trump's Coachella rally
Former President and current nominee for the 2024 Presidential elections Donald Trump held a rally in Coachella on October 12, 2024, ahead of the elections. However, according to multiple publications, the rally comprised of a lot of issues starting with attendees waiting at 100F for hours to wait for Trump to being speaking. As per Times of San Diego, multiple accounts of heat stroke and heat exhaustion were reported.
According to Yahoo News, a bus driver abandoned some of the attendees at the venue resulting in the attendees being stranded at night. In a now-deleted series of posts by @WesleyxJohnson on X (formerly Twitter), it was mentioned that there was only a single bus in rotation and the turnaround time for every drop off was 30 minutes with thousands of people waiting for the bus. The X user mentioned that originally there were 20-30 buses at the event and that:
“The buses had to drive 30 minutes out to find fuel and many didn’t return and some got stranded themselves trying to find fuel. Then the CHP ordered the bus drivers to stop driving. This all came from the bus drivers updating us as we sat on the bus asking what happened. They and the Sheriffs were all just as confused as we were. My story stands, but the drama got out of hand.”
Another X user @58bugeye uploaded a video explaining that the logistics of transportation Trump's Coachella rally was "absolute chaos" stating that everyone was stranded there.
Third assassination attempted on Trump at Coachella rally: Details explored
On July 13, 2024, there was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump made while he spoke at an open-air campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The former president survived the assassination attempt as the bullet wounded his upper right ear.
Moreover, in September 2024, Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested for the attempted assassination of the former president as he was caught near Trump's Florida golf course. Routh camped outside the former president's golf course with a rifle for approximately 12 hours.
A third assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump during his Coachella rally which as prevented by the police in the area as per Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco. According to details of the incident mentioned by BBC, a 49-year-old suspect Vem Miller was arrested in illegal possession of a loaded handgun and shotgun from an intersection near the Coachella rally.
The suspect was driving a black SUV and was stopped at a security checkpoint by deputies who found a "high capacity magazine" and two firearms from the vehicle. While Miller was taken into custody and booked for the possession of a high capacity magazine and loaded firearm, he was released later by posting a bail of $5000 and no federal charges.
As per the publication, a local sheriff called Miller a "lunactic" and part of the “sovereign citizens” movement. He mentioned that the incident did not affect the former president's safety. The US Secret Service also stated that the former president wasn't in any danger. The Sherif also stated that his deputies "did prevent the third assassination attempt.”
According to Raw Story, in addition to attendees being stranded and a third assassination attempt on the former president, Trump also called out a woman attendee who was heckling him at the rally for a suggestively violent speech.
The former president used phrases like "back home to mommy" and "gets the hell knocked out of her" to address the woman which was criticized by man alleging he endorsed violence against the woman.
